Packed with over 200 factory presets, plenty of onboard storage for user-generated tones, and a high-definition FX engine, the Numa X Piano 73 is a veritable sonic delight. A hammer-action Fatar keybed sits in a solidly built yet lightweight chassis. The Numa X Piano 73 is truly an instrument that feels and looks just as amazing as it sounds. Four assignable key zones allow you to access multiple tones from the Numa X Piano 73 simultaneously and control external devices via MIDI. Furthermore, the Numa X Piano 73 provides you with a 4-channel digital mixer with EQ, making it an ideal keyboard for gigging musicians.

Access a wide range of premium acoustic and electric piano sounds and much more

The Numa X Piano 73 gives you unprecedented access to an array of premium tones, including physically modeled acoustic and electric pianos, multi-sampled instruments, and wave shaping sound generators. Studiologic harnessed the power of their True Sound (TRS) multi-sampling and High-resolution Spectral Interpolation modeling technologies to bring you over 200 hyper-realistic sounds. Additionally, the Numa X Piano GT provides a robust FX section, with 8 insert effects for each key zone and master delay and reverb effects. A dedicated DSP effects engine for acoustic pianos brings enhanced realism to your performances with string and duplex resonances, release, key off and damper noise sounds. On top of that, you’re free to customize your FX chains and store them alongside your favorite programs.

Real-time parameter editing with the innovative UXlogic interface

With the Numa X Piano 73, Studiologic endeavored to create a user interface that strikes an ideal balance between an elegant, streamlined look and an intuitive menu navigation system. The result is the innovative UXlogic adaptive color user interface, which leverages a gorgeous color display and color-coded encoders to visually guide you through the Numa X Piano 73’s numerous functions. The color-coded encoders are automatically synchronized to a selected zone, and, along with the easy-to-read display, they allow you to access and tweak sounds effortlessly in real time!

Cutting-edge Fatar keyboard has a true piano feel

Studiologic knows that two of the most important aspects of a digital keyboard are its feel and playability. That’s why they equipped the Numa X Piano 73 with a cutting-edge Fatar hammer-action keybed: the Fatar TP/100. Designed for professional-class digital pianos, the TP/110 comprises 73 keys, featuring three contacts and monophonic aftertouch. Keyboardists at Sweetwater attest that the Fatar TP/100 does a remarkable job of capturing the experience of playing an acoustic piano — it’s the closest you’ll find in a digital keyboard!

Incredible master keyboard with built-in digital mixer

With its elegant look and luxurious feel, the Numa X Piano 73 makes for a stellar studio master controller for your hardware synthesizers, sound modules, and soft synths. You can also assign any of its four zones to output distinct MIDI to several instruments simultaneously. What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

High Quality Excellent Bang for The Buck

Very high quality key bed. If you are looking to upgrade from a synth action piano this is a great choice. The keys are a little heaver than most other fully weighted. I like that because when you go from the Numa to a Grand Piano you are use to the key feel. I use to have the hardest time jumping on a grand from my home syth keys but after getting the Numa. I have become a better player (obviously with practice) using the Numa than just practicing on my velocity sensitive synth keys.

Very easy to understand Can mix and edit on the fly without menu diving. Not any bad presets at all
ItaGrand is my favorite piano very bright and expressive.
EP-Drive allows you to put some bark on the sound.
Rock Keys is a great blend of Piano, DX and pad

I like the hybrid engine of samples and acoutic modeling. I also have the popular acoustic modeling software on my daw and it is more capable than the Numa but thats just another money spend that you probably dont need unless your fussy.

Effects are a little weird. The knobs do not always turn on or off the Same Effect Example. They are great quality but the effect for example
ItaGrand Effect knob #1=Equalizer
EP-Mark1 Effect knob #1=Auto pan I guess the reasoning is to put the most common effect first in the chain. But I would much rather prefer a knob per function of effects on the right side of the board like the red brand does.

Manual is so so but most of us are going to look on youtube or figure it out some other way
key
This is a great bang for the buck. High quality build just the right size 73 not too heavy to carry around and good looking board.

I am using this at home in my upstairs bedroom/studio
Speaker KRK rokit 5

Love playing it big upgrade from velocity sensitive synth keys

Numa X 73

This keyboard is excellent. The feel of the keyboard is great, not mushy at all. I love the 73 key option, it's perfect for my needs. The acoustic and electric piano sounds are very good, along with most of the other sounds. I am not a fan of the organ sounds, though.
The Numa X has become the central keyboard in my live set-up. It's an excellent controller. I was able to easily create a split, using the on-board piano sound on the bottom part of the keyboard, and a Prophet 6 on the top keys. That's just my first set-up. The possibilities seem endless.
I look forward to playing out with this puppy very soon!

Just a quick note…

The Numa Piano X has a Fatar TP/110- only the Numa Piano X GT has the Fatar TP/400 Wood. Several places in the product page for both models of the Piano X (73 and 88) state that it has the TP/400 Wood.

A great digital piano in a 73 key format with a lots of features, luscious sounds, and a well thought out, intuitive interface.

I was looking for a keyboard with aftertouch to add good solo voices to piano, EP & organ accompaniment. Years ago I had an Alesis QS7 that did this well but eventually bit the dust. I mentioned that to Matt Brooks, my Sweetwater Sales Engineer and he mentioned that StudioLogic had a new board that I might be interested in. A couple of weeks ago Matt followed up to tell me they had received a few of the StudioLogic Numa X 73's in stock if I was interested. Fortunately I live fairly close to Sweetwater so I could drive up and check it out. They didn't have any on the floor, but Matt had one all ready for me to check out when I got there. Again, Sweetwater ROCKS!

I did a little research before I went and was impressed with the product info and videos on StudioLogic's website. What is really cool is that you can download the Numa Player app -- a stand alone midi player and VSTi that will let you preview most of the Numa X sound patches. If you are interested in this keyboard I would highly suggest you start there. I even downloaded the manual which is only 27 pages -- the beauty of this is the "operating system" of the Numa X is so well organized, implemented and very intuitive that you can get going on it quickly without much of a learning curve. After playing the keyboard at Sweetwater for a little while, it was an easy decision for me to go ahead and buy it. It had a great feel, awesome sounds, and for 73 keys -- a nice "footprint" at a pretty darn good price point. Every day I play it I am more pleased with my purchase. Very solid build quality, metal case, looks elegant, sounds wonderful. You won't be overwhelmed with knobs and buttons and there's still a lot of user-friendly functionality packed into the controls that are there. Yet the Numa X is not overloaded with a lot of frills you'll never use.

I won't go into a lot of the tech details because they are very well covered between Sweetwater's product page and the StudioLogic website -- no surprises if you check that out first. My other impressions follow:

Keyboard action -- I am not a proficient keyboardist. To me the keyboard seemed a little stiff for my taste but I think most pianists would be pleased with it. It has a real quality feel to it. There is a global setting for "sensitivity" which made it a little better for my arthritic hands, so all is well.

Sounds -- the pianos and EP's are fantastic! Organs are pretty good but could use some tweaks. It is easy to set up layers and splits with the four "zones" and they can also be easily divided between keyboard and midi control. There are some 200 factory programs set up of various layered and split configurations and a lot of useful sounds. When I hooked up my expression pedal, many really came to life. There are several piano/EP programs with synth/vocal/string pads backing them that are particularly good. Also nice bass voices to keep your left hand busy.

My biggest disappointment is with the solo sounds. There are no solo string voices and the while the solo horns and woodwinds sound OK, the aftertouch implementation is extremely disappointing. Aftertouch applies full modulation in an on/off step fashion which sounds sounds very unnatural. Since good aftertouch expression is what I was after I'm kinda bummed because I really wanted a keyboard that was expressive for solo sounds. I can see aftertouch is transmitted over midi as linear values, so I hope Studiologic can improve this in a future firmware update. I passed along this comment to StudioLogic's customer service and they seemed interested in my feedback. I have seen in previous reviews of other StudioLogic products that their customer service is very responsive and I will concur!

Midi and audio implementation -- the Numa X can be configured as 4-part multi-timbral midi device with configurable control of local keyboard and/or external midi. Unfortunately, patches don't respond to standard CC controls over midi which is a bummer. External audio may be patched in through 4 external inputs which is another nice feature. Individual level, EQ and FX control is provided for the ext audio inputs, unfortunately pan is not. The keyboard also can serve as a 2x in/2x out USB capable audio interface for your DAW -- although an ASIO driver is not provided.

Bottom line -- If you are primarily a keyboardist looking for great acoustic and electric pianos with some usable organs and other patches in a 73 key format with a superb user interface, the Numa X 73 is a fantastic choice. I'm going to knock it a half star because because of the near misses with aftertouch and Midi implementation. Fortunately I believe these shortcomings can easily be addressed with future firmware updates -- and if StudioLogic chooses to do so, they will have hit a home run.

Worth the wait

I've had mine for about 2-months now. I waited 6. Solid keyboard with fantastic piano sounds that cut through the mix. Action is good and fast and not graded. I also have the Compact 2x. Both good keyboards. I'm still learning the Numa X. The presets are stacked/layered and have a Korg nuance to them, very beautiful.
