What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Noisy chain? Clamp it!!

Do you get unwanted noise from your drive pedals? Not hiss or feedback. Like when you bump you guitars body while the volume is on. Maybe a slight hum?? Just that feeling that everything is on and ready to go. Well, that's what I got and I didn't like it. The drive pedals loaded up the signal chain and I don't like that. Especially for recording. So I got this. I put my drive pedals in the fx loop and boy did it "clamp down" on that "ready to go" noise. I bearly have the gate set on this thing. Works like a charm.

I believe that most boards need "utility" pedals and this is one of them. Along with a tuner of course. Lol Mxr put out some great products with build quality to match. If you want dead quiet. This is a great option.

Great Gate

Using the side chain for the gate control is the way to go

Works Exactly as Advertised

Watch the demo. It is exactly what will be sent to you. I use semi-hollow guitars for the weight relief and one of the places where I jam/practice, I am almost sitting on my amp. The (unwelcome) feedback and AC hum/hiss was unbearable when using overdrive pedals. Ran them through the loop on the "Noise Clamp" and BOOM! Gone. 100% removed. I also noticed almost no loss of sustain when holding notes and still could generate desired feedback through my amp. Truly 5 stars and I wholeheartedly recommend this for anyone who needs to clean up their effects chain.

Very effective--make sure you have your instrument volume wide open

This device is very effective on my board, eliminating the hiss caused by my compressor and drive pedals.

It was frustrating at first, because I didn't know that it's important to have the volume control on the instrument all the way up. I didn't normally play that way, as I liked to set the volume control low and the amp volume high so that I could adjust the performance level from my instrument. When using the M195, this technique causes a problem, as the noise clamp needs plenty of signal from the bass in order to operate.

Be sure to pay attention to the installation instructions. Your pedals need to be installed in the send>return loop of noise clamp. Plug your bass or guitar into the input, and output goes to the amp input.

I also experimented with putting the noise clamp and its send-return loop in the amplifier's send-return loop. This probably resulted in slightly better sound, but for most of my purposes it isn't worth the hassle of running 3 cables from the board to the amp.

If your pedals are causing too much noise, get yourself one of these.
