Beautiful ’51 Telecaster Replacement Neck from Fender

The ’51 Telecaster Fat “U” Replacement Neck from Fender is a beautiful all-maple neck that gives you authentic ’51 feel and response. Featuring a 1951 fat U-shaped profile and 9.5"-radius maple fingerboard with 21 x 6105 frets, this neck provides stellar intonation. The synthetic bone nut is pre-slotted with “pilot” string grooves for easy installation and string setup — a feature guitarists here at Sweetwater really appreciate.

Note: Every neck and guitar is different, and a final setup, including filing the nut slots and a final fret leveling, may be required after installation on your guitar. What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

Note: While Certified Open Box items from Fender do not include the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation warranty, you can shop with confidence knowing that this item is backed and covered by Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items

Reviews

Excellent necks
The Fat U is my favorite and these necks are great. I have two I used to replace other "thin" necks on my Teles. The varnish seem a bit thick. The vintage holes I reamed out to modern Fender. The heel adjust truss rod is a bit of a nuisance. But all those are easy to work with. I may buy a third one for a spare. Sad to say it's probably cheaper than a fret replacement, but I do think that was Leo's intention.
Great neck
I have two of these necks as replacement necks on Teles. Mine required little work except on the nut which was an easy job. Crete were nearly completely level.
I like this Tele!
I am very happy with the way my "partscaster" turned out! The 51 tele neck feels great, as my other guitar is a 50s neck Les Paul Standard made in 2022. It has a very substantial neck, and while the tele neck is a bit more stout, I am happy with the similarities. I also appreciate that it came with the nut installed and grooved, this saved money and time because I had my local guitar shop put it together for me. The finish goes up onto the side of the nut which gives it a factory installed look. A small detail that I like! The neck was delivered quickly, and the price seems fair! I would definitely recommend the neck. It was also packed for shipping very nicely. Thanks

Chunky Monkey
I normally have gone for the Professional necks due to the profile and feel but for my last build I wanted to try a "U" shape profile. Ian at Sweetwater hooked me up and got a neck to me quickly. I really like this neck lots of reviews talked about fret work, mine came with mostly level frets. One was a little high but not enough to make a difference. I did touch up the fret ends which diffently helped. Fit the body really good and man does this thick neck help with resonance, in my opinion. Love the girth, she sounds and plays awesome. Vintage tuners went in smooth. If it had rolled edges it would have been the heat.

Follow up
I"m following up to the last review. Sweetwater"s excellent customer service came through again and sent me a replacement neck! The replacement neck is in better shape fret wise than the first. The only thing that gets me is the color is less tinted and more of a new white maple which is fine but also the heel isn"t as wide as the first so there"s a bit of a gap at the pocket. It"s staying stable so as long as that holds I"m happy. Thanks Jacob and Ryan!
