Great Bass For it's Intended Use

Let me start out by clarifying one thing I feel gets left out of way too many reviews. As with anything else in life, whether you love or hate this bass depends, more than anything else, on the style of music you play and your personal playing style.
That being said, this is one of the most incredible instruments I've played. For background, I play music ranging from 90s radio pop (Matchbox 20, Simple Plan, etc.) to modern Hard Rock (Thousand Foot Krutch, Papa Roach, A7X). My other regular basses are a 90s era Ibanez SD305 and an early 2000s Traben Array Ltd.
I had a hard time finding any reviews on this bass and I know that some of the earlier Sixx signatures have been less than stellar so I hesitated to buy one. Bad idea. Now that I have one I thought I would post some info on it for others thinking of getting one. First off, in light of my opening statement, if you play a lot of virtuoso, Roy Vogt, Jaco Pastorius type stuff this probably isn't the bass for you. However, if you're looking for a simple, good looking bass with plenty of that "new string" type mid-cut growl and volume to spare, this is exactly the bass for you. Controls are simple, 2-volume 1-tone. The P-pickups have a good, balanced, smooth, ballad type sound. (Think Sixx A.M. "Gotta Get It Right") and the volume for the J-Pickup can be rolled up to adjust how much of that wicked rock-n-roll growl you get (topping out somewhere similar to A7X's "Brompton Cocktail." The kill switch is excellent for recording and stage to cut unwanted noise between takes or to free your hands up for a water bottle. As with everything Schecter I have ever held, the build is absolutely top notch, I have played American Thunderbirds which were not as solid as this unit; set-up was absolutely spot on right out of the box. Ships with Cobalt strings that sound good enough I might be making the switch on all of my basses. The hipshot/string through bridge and clip in battery cavity are also very solid and convenient. So far I've gotten about twice the battery life from my Sixx as I usually do my Traben, and it is speaker-rattling-loud. The only two changes I could wish for would be a smoother top edge on the body, it hit's the arm a little hard when playing pick style with much gusto, and availability in the sexy red I see Nikki on stage with.
In summary, if you're looking for a smooth talking, jazz-style bass for playing finger style this may not be what you're after, but with the right amp and p-pickups it could probably do it. If you're after a LOUD, growly, Crue style, instrument with exceptional playability and feel, I would definitely recommend picking up a Schecter Sixx.
Happy Playing.
