Long-lasting Bass Strings with Punch and Clarity

D'Addario's NYXL Bass Strings aim to deliver exceptional dynamic range and wide harmonic response. Their chosen recipe is NYXL nickel-plated wrap wire around their NY Steel core. The plated string windings have increased magnetic properties that give you higher output and vibrant midrange tone. Bassists at Sweetwater like these strings due to the rich harmonic content, which makes it easy to shape your bass guitar's tone for virtually any style. They also stay in tune very well. Whether you slap and pop or play laid back R&B grooves, you'll be able to find a great tone with D'Addario NYXL Bass Strings.

D'Addario — Making strings for over 300 years

Behind every set of D'Addario strings is over three centuries of fine craftsmanship. The D'Addario family tradition began in the tiny town of Salle, Italy, in 1680, where they made assorted instrument strings for over 200 years before relocating to New York in 1905. As the modern string-making industry began to develop, the D'Addario family emerged as innovators by designing the winding machine most string makers still use today. And while their techniques have modernized, the pride that goes into each set of strings dates back to the D'Addario family's earliest roots.

D'Addario NYXL55110 Bass Guitar Strings Features:

  • Nickel-plated wrap wire over a steel core for enhanced output and harmonic content
  • Heavy 4-string set: .055-.110

NYXL = Perfection

I have used different strings at different times for different sounds. I found, for myself, that a Nickel round wound string fit most situations best. Of course, a LaBalla flat is another sound that I also like.

For years I have been a D'Addario XLB player as it is a solid string, but it is also readily available AND I like to play .110 -.085 -.065 -.045 gauges that are available as singles to make a set. I use a Hipshot D-tuner.

Two years ago I saw the NYXL .105 - .045 set at Sweetwater. I decided I had to try them. I have not stopped. It is the BEST Bass Nickel round wound string I have found. Hear them for yourself. Also, George @ D'Addario has been so helpful in helping me obtain the single .110 NYXL string until singles are readily available. No one has better player support than D'Addario & Sweetwater! Thanks, Carl, my personal Sales Engineer extrodaner! ;)

DR Who?

I play down-tuned metal. I"ve been searching for a punchy-sounding string that can keep tension in C standard and drop B. This set of strings is perfect for that. Nice and tight(both feel and sound) in low tubings with an okay feel. My one complaint would be that these strings grip my fingers a bit, but that"s something that goes away with the addition of callouses. Also, as far as I can tell, these strings have a long life to them(take that, Ernie Ball!)

I like 'em!

Clean, crisp tone - a "live" string. Only improvement for me would be to wrap the ends on the tuning machine like other strings do. It makes it easier for me to grab and wind.
