Try D’Addario’s Toughest Strings

D’Addario NYXL Nickel Wound Guitar Strings represent one of the most exciting developments in string technology in recent years. Tough as nails, these strings feature an exclusive high-carbon steel core wire and a reformulated nickel plating on the wrap wire. Of course, NYXL strings are still made with the dedication to quality and craftsmanship that players have come to expect from D’Addario. But what does all of that do for you, the player? First, the strings are more flexible, making them a much better alternative for players who abuse the whammy bar. They’re also more stable — case in point, D'Addario reports these strings flaunt a 131% greater tuning stability. Suffice it to say: with these strings on your guitar, you’re free to play without worrying that a broken string will derail your session..

The NYXL Difference

So, what really makes NYXLs so much different than standard D’Addario strings? First, they’re built with an exclusive high-carbon steel core wire for greater durability and a higher tolerance for alternate tunings. The other difference found on NYXL strings is the reformulated nickel-plated wrap wire, which delivers a subtle boost in output between 1kHz and 3.5kHz. With NYXL strings, you get a modernized sound and ferocious durability without sacrificing the easy playability you know and love.

Which string gauge is right for me?

  • Extra Super Light: Super easy to play. Easy to bend. Great for beginners.
  • Super Light: Easy on the fingers. Slightly more volume and projection.
  • Regular Light: Most popular. Ideal balance of playability and versatile tone.
  • Medium: A popular fusion of heftier plain steels and wound strings.
  • Heavy: Hardest to bend. Maximum volume. Often used for drop/altered tunings.

The right tone for everyone

D’Addario believes that every acoustic guitar player should have a set of strings that match their sonic needs. That’s why they build strings with a range of construction methods and materials. Whether you go with the brightest 80/20 Bronze strings, the mellowest Silk & Steels, or anywhere in between, D’Addario has the perfect sound for everyone. Want to learn more? D’Addario: innovative strings since 1680

When you go with D’Addario, you receive far more than a great set of strings. You’re benefiting from three centuries of string-making experience. The D’Addario family tradition began in 1680 in the tiny town of Salle, Italy, where they made assorted instrument strings for over 200 years before relocating to New York in 1905. Since then, the D’Addario family has become a leader in string innovation. They designed the modern winding machine, introduced ultra-reliable hexagonal core wires, and pioneered the colored-coded ball end movement. More than 300 years since the family started making strings, D’Addario continues to set a global standard for quality and reliability. And every day, more than 500,000 strings emerge from their USA-based workshops.

D’Addario NYXL Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings Features:

  • Advanced nickel-wound guitar strings with outstanding durability
  • Exclusive New York-made high-carbon steel core delivers unrivaled strength and elasticity

One and done

I tried these for the first time and I am hooked. Never going back to anything else

They are nice.

I love these strings. Though I did want to correct one of the other reviews, if you play a lot, and I play more than an average amount. These strings last longer, but they don't last 6 months. I'm lucky to get two weeks, by a month I'll have worn through the windings on the heavier strings where they contact the frets. I can squeeze 2 weeks from them. where most strings I'm lucky to get a week before I'm annoyed. So They do last longer. Just maybe still change your strings regularly if you play a lot. (I'm not a stranger to 8 hour sessions, they get abused)

That said they scream loud, As long as you're set up well they sound fantastic. IF you're set up for ernie ball strings they may warble a bit. you can fix it by lowering your pickups a little. I know on two of my guitars when I swapped them I had to lower the pickups a bit. So it's worth noting.

Worth The Price

For people like myself who are not frequent string changers these are the strings for you.
I use them on all my guitars and if you wipe them down after use you can get 6 months to a year
out of a set depending on how often you play. The set i have on my 7 string still sound great after 6 months
of use at approximately an hour a day.
They are also one of the best sounding strings on the market.
With these strings i only change out twice a year on all 6 of my guitars!

A Very Merry Christmas

My sweetheart of a girlfriend bought me a pair of NYXL strings along with a dimarzio strap lock and peavey footswitch. They not only sent one pack of strings but an additional 4 other packs. I just wanted to thank you guys for that. I'm usually an american music supply customer but I may have found my new favorite place to buy my gear. Thanks again and keep up the great work.
