D’Addario NYXL Nickel Wound Guitar Strings represent one of the most exciting developments in string technology in recent years. Tough as nails, these strings feature an exclusive high-carbon steel core wire and a reformulated nickel plating on the wrap wire. Of course, NYXL strings are still made with the dedication to quality and craftsmanship that players have come to expect from D’Addario. But what does all of that do for you, the player? First, the strings are more flexible, making them a much better alternative for players who abuse the whammy bar. They’re also more stable — case in point, D'Addario reports these strings flaunt a 131% greater tuning stability. Suffice it to say: with these strings on your guitar, you’re free to play without worrying that a broken string will derail your session.

D'Addario String Care Bundle - Sweetwater Exclusive

Sells separately for $12.99

It’s easy to overlook the fine-tuned details of cleaning and maintaining instruments when we’re all so busy rocking out, shredding, or pickin’ tunes. Luckily, Sweetwater has your instrument’s back with D’Addario’s String Care Bundle. Inside you’ll find a Pro-Winder and XLR8 String Lubricant & Cleaner that'll keep your strings clean and mean. The Pro-Winder helps with string changes thanks to a bridge pin puller and a built-in clipper. Subsequently, the XLR8 lubricant keeps those new strings in mint condition while also removing pesky friction that would otherwise slow you down. Many guitarists at Sweetwater use this system, and now you can too.

Went From Once a Week to Once a Month

I've tried most of the popular brands of strings in my 40 years of playing guitar. The common frustration was how fast the strings went dead. In fact, the lifespan was 1st day - tangy and metallic, 2nd day - perfect round tone with good attack, 3rd day - too thumpy and lacking clarity, and then it sounded like my guitar was under a wool blanket suffocating.

I've played NYXL 10-46 for the last 4 years at least and now even when my strings are a month or more old, they still sound fresh and clear. I now change strings when I can feel the bumps over the fret and the strings start struggling to stay in tune. That gives me at least a month. If it's a secondary guitar, more … way more.

If you like the tangy, metallic sound of some strings when they're first put on or you love dead strings, this may not be your brand. For me, I feel like I can hear the fundamental tone of my guitar with these strings and they last.

D'Addario NYXL Strings

Worst friggin' strings I ever used. I called my twin brother to see if he had tried them. Sure did, he said. I asked if he would use them again. After hearing a resounding HELL NO(!), I had my answer. They cost too much for the lousy sound you get.
