Overpriced and Loud but Built Quite Well

After spending nearly two years playing my Electro 6D 73 without this, I grew tired of the mistakes that would happen from using the small button on the control face of the keyboard to control the rotary speed. I was very put-off by the price of a simple three-position switch with a Nord logo on it, but I bit the bullet and I've since forgotten the crater it left in my wallet. It's now an indispensable part of the keyboard and I don't know how I lived without it. Do I still think it's overpriced? Yes, but after two years of gigging and flicking this switch back and forth like a madman and it's still as crisp and sturdy as the day I bought it and will likely last many, many more years.

But that does bring me to my other complaint: the switch is quite loud. You have to kind of guide it at lower volumes instead of flicking it or it will be heard in the back of the room. Even while playing at louder volumes, my vocal mic has picked up the sound of the switch from time-to-time.

Also the cord is a bit long unless you're playing a dual-manual. There's no built-in cable management for this so I use gaff tape to secure it to the bottom of the keyboard to keep things somewhat tidy.

NORD Rotor switch

Nice switch but pricey. I bought an aftermarket rotor switch that Velcro's onto the keyboard. After playing for a while it moves out of position and eventually falls off cause I have a heavy hand. I only gave it 4 stars because of the high price. The aftermarket switch was $.

Music background: I'm 72 and have been playing since I was 15 yrears old. Still playing in groups.

Helped my playing

I'm playing more and more songs lately that require B3. The first thing I did right when upgrading to a newer Nord keyboard last year was buy the Nord with the drawbars (I have a stage 3 compact 73 now). Having the physical drawbars instead of using the buttons has led to much better expression and exploration. The second thing I did right, much more recently, was to buy this half-moon switch. It too has changed my sound because now I can work the rotor speed much more effectively.

It is solidly built, and when properly affixed to the stage 3, becomes a part of the instrument. It's so solidly attached that I do not worry about leaving it there all the time, as I case and uncase the instrument for transport to gigs and rehearsals.

Hint 1: On Nord, set acceleration speed to 'low' on the horn and rotor both.
Hint 2: Yeet the thumbscrews that come with the switch. Buy some #4 metric machine screws (10mm length or slightly longer) and use them instead for a much better attachment to the Nord.

Nord Half Moon Switch for Electro 6D

This switch is a critical piece of equipment that really should have been included on the Nord Electro 6D, rather than an accessory.
That being said....it works great, and worth the money.

Half Moon Switch for Nord C2D

Expensive but works great. Don’t forget to go into Menus and choose half moon, otherwise it will not work correctly.
