Classical Guitar for the Modern Player

Yamaha’s NCX1 nylon-string guitar brings traditional craftsmanship into the modern era, with a familiar feel and touchstone appointments with cutting edge design elements. The NCX1 has an elegant, single-cutaway body shape that extends access to the upper frets, along with a flat radius walnut fingerboard with generous 11.8mm string-spacing. Overflowing with character, the NCX1 will appeal to nylon-string players of every level and impresses with a warm and resonant sound with ample projection. For performances where amplification is necessary, the NCX1 is equipped with an undersaddle preamp, 3-band EQ, and built-in tuner. Available at Sweetwater, the Yamaha NCX1 is a modern nylon-string guitar that’s impossible to put down.

Familiar Feel and Modern Performance

Yamaha’s NCX1 pairs a sharp, single-cutaway design with a traditional neck profile and width and standard classical guitar body depth for a familiar feel that appeals to players experienced with nylon guitars. The flat radius walnut fingerboard is a wide and comfortable canvas for painting musical lines in bright and woody hues. The Yamaha NCX1 has a deeply resonant character with plenty of natural projection, and its solid Sitka spruce soundboard contributes bright, snappy top end.

Updated, optimized bracing system

Yamaha’s team of designers and luthiers delved deeply into the science and art of bracing design when developing the NX Series of classical guitars. Through thoughtful experimentation and precise measurement, they identified opportunities to refine the NX bracing system, enhancing the low-end resonance of the instrument and drawing out more of the natural character of the selected tonewoods and qualities inherent to specific body shapes.

Premium Onboard Electronics

Your NTX1 is ready to plug in and play out. Its undersaddle pickup is powered by an advanced Yamaha preamp system, with onboard 3-band EQ to let you sculpt your sound from the stage. The NTX1 also features an onboard tuner, so you can leave your pedals at home.

Yamaha NCX1C Nylon-string Guitar Features:

  • Modern nylon-string guitar with a timeless feel
  • Single-cutaway body shape expands access to the upper frets
  • Traditional neck profile and width, and standard classical guitar depth
  • Flat radius walnut fingerboard

Fantastic instrument for a great price.

I've played a Yamaha FG401 since I was 10. That was 27 years ago. It still plays and sounds awesome, so when I started looking for a nylon string guitar I knew I wanted a Yamaha.
I'm not a classical guitarist so breaking with traditional design is fine by me. The cutaway and pickup on the NCX1 are wonderful additions to a guitar that would otherwise already be a great acoustic. Also this guitar has a truss rod. I know most classical guitars don't have truss rods and it drives me nuts. After lowering the action a bit and adjusting the neck this guitar plays like a dream. It was set up very well when I received it, but every player has their own desired feel. I love the sound of the nylon strings and I was surprised by how it sounds through an amp. It's powerful.
The guitar arrived in 3 days packed up better than anything I've ever seen from a music store. Thank you guys.

Sounding Sweet

The Luna Acoustic Guitar impresses with a lightweight design, delivering remarkable sustain and a satisfying low end. While a minor imperfection involves some protruding fret wires on the neck's side, the overall playability remains excellent. Its surprisingly light build makes it comfortable for extended sessions. When mic'ed up, the Luna shines with rich tones, making it suitable for diverse performances. The preamp, though not extensively tested, offers a satisfactory sound. Despite minor flaws, this guitar is a solid choice for musicians seeking a reliable and melodically pleasing instrument.

Gig friendly

The built in strap buttons, tuner and preamp make this guitar very easy to set up for amplified gigs. The truss rod is helpful to manage the action and the intonation is pretty good!

Very good

I own a Yamaha NTX 1200 R and a Yamaha silent guitar; both are very good and highly recommended. But I needed a guitar for daily use and practicing on the road because I am not at home very often.
To be honest, this Yamaha is a great playing acoustic guitar and offers much value for the price. I can`t tell you why there is this large price-difference between the NTX 1 and the NTX 1200. The NTX 1 sounds good, strings don`t buzz, tuners work properly, and the pickup does what it is expected to do.
If you are looking for a reliable "working horse" acoustic guitar I`d recommend buying this model.
