No Batteries or Noise, Just Pure Acoustic Mojo

The minds at Mojo Tone are always busy cooking up ideas for better acoustic-electric guitar tone. Case in point, the Quiet Coil NC-Passive Acoustic Guitar Soundhole Pickup. This discrete but handy pickup features top-notch components and a passive design, which means no more buying batteries or hunting for spares in guitar cases and kitchen drawers. Powering the Quiet Coil is a dual humbucking design that suppresses hum, noise, and feedback while capturing the natural frequency of your guitar in elegant simplicity. This low-profile pickup easily mounts to most soundholes (see below for measurement specifics). Its rolled edges and natural cork padding not only make it mountable without loosening your strings, but also protect your guitar’s finish and will never obstruct your strumming. What’s more, the pickup is built for the long haul with a pre-wired studio-grade 10-foot Mogami cable and a premium Switchcraft output jack. The Quiet Coil NC-Passive Acoustic Guitar Soundhole Pickup is specifically designed for balanced string output regardless of string type — no need for adjustable pole pieces or different strings. If you’re looking to pick out a great low-maintenance pickup, this one from Sweetwater will fit the bill!

Mojo Tone Quiet Coil NC-Passive Acoustic Guitar Soundhole Pickup Features:

  • Passive design yields reliable performance with zero need for batteries or a power source
  • Pre-wired with premium 10-foot Mogami cable
  • Dual humbucking design eliminates noise while also being less prone to feedback
  • Sturdy Switchcraft USA 1/4-inch Plug for reliable performance
  • For use with soundholes with a diameter of 83.8mm or 3.30 inches
  • Cork padding protects even the most delicate guitar finishes including nitrocellulose
  • Made in the USA

Best Pickup for my needs and style

I've tried:
*Fishman Classic IV
*Ovation (whatever quack strip and preamp stuck in there)
*K&K Pure Mini
*JJB 330 Prestige
*Miniflex 2Mic
*Journey Tek Passive
*DeArmond Tone Boss

I only list them to demonstrate that I have played many acoustics and through many different systems. The Mojotone NC Passive smokes them all. No quack, no noise, no poles to adjust, no nonsense. Plus, non-invasive so you can put it in any guitar you want as well! One pickup to rule them all.

To test I plugged in strait into a little practice amp. Fabulous. I was shocked at how good it sounded without any kind of EQ or outboard Pre/DI. However, I purchased one for use in a LOUD praise band and for jamming with friends and family when the situation arises. So I have an L.R. Baggs Session and ran the Mojo through that. Beautiful warm, clear, noiseless sound.

For what I do, the search is over. Well done David & Co., so well done!

Great Sounding Pickup, But With Caveat

The NC-Passive delivers the most natural and miked guitar-like sound of any soundhole pickup that I've tried. The caveat is that it clicks loudly when accidentally struck by a pic or fingernail. It's apparently similar to the Baggs M1 and M80 in that it has some kind of top sensing technology built into it. I don't recommend it for players, like myself, who prefer to attack the strings on the neck side of the soundhole. Albeit, it's a very impressive hybrid pickup for the folks who can accommodate its need for space.

Mojo acoustic pickup

I recently purchased this pickup due to some favorable videos I've seen, the price and ease of connection as my wife and I are leaving for Israel next month. I bought a travel acoustic and need a pickup for possible amplification needs overseas. It installed easily even without loosening the strings. The tone is not bad I just need to find the best location on the sound hole.
Music background: I've been a worship leader for about 13 years. I play four instruments, sing backup, songwriter, producer, etc. In the 70's and early 80's played in Hollywood clubs. So I've been around the block a bit.
