A Small-scale Mixer with Large-scale Features

The TASCAM Model 2400 aims to redefine what you can do with a small-scale mixer. This 24-channel analog recording console boasts a built-in multitrack recorder and audio interface, enabling you to use it in an expansive range of studio and live sound applications. The Model 2400 houses 22 inputs and 16 excellent-sounding microphone preamps — exactly what you need to build a rock-solid analog front end. Channels 1–12 each sport a 1-knob compressor and 3-band EQ, while onboard DSP provides you with additional effects, including master-bus processing. Moreover, analog insert points facilitate flawless integration of your external hardware. Comprehensive MIDI I/O and DAW transport control ensure seamless studio integration. You also get extensive metering capabilities via TASCAM’s Meter Bridge software application. The Model 2400 includes 22 solid-feeling 100mm faders, abundant analog I/O with potent routing options, +48-volt phantom power, a talkback XLR input, and built-in Bluetooth streaming. Both onstage and in the studio, the TASCAM Model 2400 is guaranteed to help you up your game.

A full-featured 24-channel recording console

The Model 2400 houses 16 low-noise TASCAM Ultra HDDA microphone preamps, enabling you to capture sound sources with maximum fidelity and harmonic vibrancy. The Model 2400 includes per-channel compression and EQ, along with insert points, on channels 1–12 for seamless integration of your external hardware. You also get an analog insert on the main stereo bus to connect external mastering equipment. There’s plenty of additional analog I/O on tap, with five auxiliary sends and four stereo subgroups, so you can create multiple monitor mixes without sacrificing an auxiliary for effects. You can connect multiple sets of speakers to ensure broad-gauge reference monitoring. A talkback XLR microphone input is also available. We’re impressed with the Model 2400 here at Sweetwater; it gives you the comprehensive connectivity and routing you need to achieve a pro-level experience.

Streamlined recording and mixing

The Model 2400 offers a salmagundi of recording options, allowing you to record and mix everything from singer/songwriters and small groups all the way up to large orchestras and choir ensembles. Its integrated multitrack recorder lets you record 24 channels (the 22 inputs plus the stereo master) of high-quality audio directly to an SD card — no computer required. That said, the Model 2400 is equally at home in a DAW-based recording setup, thanks to its built-in 24-in/22-out USB audio interface and dedicated HUI- and MCU-compatible DAW transport control. Furthermore, in addition to the aforementioned per-channel compression and EQ, the Model 2400 incorporates onboard digital effects, arming you with DSP-fueled master-bus processing and studio-quality reverb, delay, chorus, and more, complete with tactile fader control.

The centerpiece of your studio

While the Model 2400 excels as a classic analog console, its built-in audio interface, DAW transport control, and ample analog I/O enable it to integrate seamlessly into modern production workflows. Thanks to the Model 2400’s ability to return 22 tracks from your DAW and through the console’s own mix path and processing, you’ll also find that it tackles analog summing duties with complete assurance. Furthermore, the Model 2400’s extensive MIDI functionality lets you control drum machines, synthesizers, and other hardware directly from your DAW software, synchronize your external modules to the tempo of your project, and a whole lot more. You can also gain extensive metering capabilities via TASCAM’s Meter Bridge software application on your Mac or PC. A Bluetooth input, with support for the AAC and SBC codecs, is also on deck, enabling you to effortlessly stream audio straight from your smart device.

Reviews

What the Model 24 should’ve been originally.
I'm a previous owner of the Model 24 and it was almost perfect. It didn't have more than 2 insert options and also couldn't process with eq & compression thru usb. The Model 2400 was the answer to that. Now had 12 insert options and can now process EQ & compression thru usb. The 2400 is bigger & better. Couldn't have asked for a better upgrade. This thing is a workhorse and can be configured in all kind of ways for complicated and simple setups. Definitely worth the money if you're considering one.
Amazing!
The Tascam Model 2400 is an amazing piece of gear. I compared the Model 24 vs the Model 2400 and found that, for me, the increased functionality and technologies of the Model 2400 were well worth the added cost. Thankfully, it paired easily with my M2 Mac-Mini and Cubase Pro. Thumbs up to my Rep, Adam Chesi, Sweetwater and all involved with my purchase.
The Tascam 2400 is stellar!
Over the past 25 years I have been recording... I started with 1/2" analog, moved to 24 track digital and now I am using what may be the single coolest piece of gear I have ever purchased. This 24 track recorder, mixer, interface does everything Tascam intended for it to do. The mic pre's are so good, the recording is effortless and very impressive for a unit at this price range. I will enjoy creating on this deck for a minute. A+. What a great piece of gear! KUDOS TASCAM...I love this deck!
Music background: Drummer, guitarist, keyboard, songwriter.
It’s really versatile and of great quality
I have had the Tascam model 2400 for a couple of weeks now and I have to say, it has exceeded my expectations. I I purchased this mostly to use to make my next album. I'll be recording my jazz guitar trio (Guitar, upright bass, and drums) new album using this as an interface into my computer. But, it works great as a stand-alone recording device, live mixer, or any combination of the above. I have recorded the tracks from my last album to the board from my DAW where each track has its own fader…it was just a project to do to understand the device and the signal flow of the mixer. I can remix the tracks through this board (including the master compressor and EQ) back into the DAW as well. I can record to the board on location then dump the tracks to the DAW when I get back to the studio, or I can track my band live to a DAW in real time. The converters sound great and the preamps are clean and loud eithout being noisey. I can record with the channel compressors and track EQs on the tracks to the DAW.
Having grown up with Tascam multitrack recorders it feels great to have a modern, no compromise, fully featured version.
I have no regrets at all having made this purchase / investment.
Music background: Professional Jazz guitarist and educator
I love this thing!
I had a tascam studio bridge connected to a mackie 32 8 buss. It was really working great until my old mackie started to fail. The first night of band practice was great. Headphone mix sounded great and the first recording was up quite a few notches from any of my previous recordings. I have been a musician for 45 years not a recording engineer... so I am learning. This thing almost makes it easy!
