Stereo Mixer for Line Signals

For situations where using a traditional mixing console is impractical, turn to the ART MX822 Stereo Rackmount Mixer. This compact unit takes up just 1U of rack space and is a real problem solver for live and studio setups. The MX822 offers eight channels of operation, each equipped with a pair of 1/4-inch inputs for mono and stereo sources. And as a bonus, Channel 1 lets you select between a mic and line source with switchable phantom power for condenser mics. Each channel is outfitted with independent level, pan, effects send controls, and 2-color status LEDs. Here at Sweetwater, we especially appreciate that the MX822 can be daisy-chained with other MX822 mixers to add even more inputs to your setup. The ART MX822 Stereo Rackmount Mixer gives you extensive mixing capabilities and streamlines your rig’s outputs.

ART MX822 Stereo Rackmount Mixer Features:

  • 8-channel stereo mixer for stage and studio use
  • Mono/stereo line inputs are compatible with most sources
  • Channel 1 mic input and phantom power accommodates a condenser mic
  • Independent level and pan per channel
  • Green and red LEDs on each channel display signal status
  • 6 level left and right main output provides at-a-glance metering
  • FX loop and switchable sends make adding reverb or compression easy
  • Balanced stereo output sends audio to a PA or console
  • Expander output makes daisy-chaining easy
  • Headphone output enables personal monitoring

my media playback line mixer extrodinaire

fits perfectly into my system what else can i say? clean sound and lots of headroom. Looking to purchase another unit in the future. Highly recommended piece of gear!!!!

Works very well

The MX822 works very well, as promised, when installed in a compatible system. I am using it to mix un-balanced audio sources and then output them to a balanced electronic crossover input. The MX822 contributes no discernible system noise and it sounds very clean. I highly recommend this product for its intended use.

The noise levels are appalling

This looked to be the perfect fit for my studio. I have several synths with multiple outs, and this should've been a great way to patch them all in. I read reviews on Amazon about noise issues, but I figured it may be user error... or perhaps just dirty power. The reviews were unfortunately absolutely right... this unit is noisy beyond use as is.

Look, I have Furman PL Plus DMC power conditioners (the big heavy one) which is plugged into a Morley Hum Eliminator (formerly Ebtech Hum-X). All balanced cables. Ferrofish Pulse AD/DA. RME Raydat interface. All professional stuff, low noise, and my hum issues are fully solved by the grace of god. I added this unit to my setup... and it's given the WEIRDEST issues. Not only is the internal noise too much to bare, but somehow it's found a way to pick up computer noises from other parts of my computer and send them into my Ferrofish AD. I don't even know how this is physically possible to be honest, but i've tested for 3 hours and it's true. With no inputs connected to the MX822, only an output to my AD, if I play Spotify on my computer the MX822 is feeding that signal (and another other signal playing... including metronome... other tracks of audio... youtube feed... anything) into the AD. The weirdest thing ever! Not only that, but the noise seems to be coming from the master bus, as it only gets worse when that is turned up. If I turn up the individual channels, they don't contribute all that much to the noise. If I turn the pans on the individual channels.. the noise will be panned L/R. So it's a noisy master bus that's wreaking havoc.

The ONLY way I'm able to use it right now is by patching it into a Radial Pro D2 passive box and that kills the noise enough for it to be somewhat usable (but still noisy).

Do not purchase this. I am serious. The issues are not user error. I'm an experienced troubleshooter with my gear. Consider yourself warned. Only think about purchasing if you are low on money, need a mixer, noise is acceptable, and you either have or plan to grab a Radial Pro D2.
