What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Reviews

Outboard microphone essential
The Art MX821S is an essential mobile rack microphone rig.!
Music background: Musician, Disc Jockey, etc.
Great piece of gear!
I'm using this mixer as an analog sub group/ media source for my digital SoundcraftUi16. The Ui16 is great, but just a tad behind the times as it's built in usb media player doesn't simply stream from a Bluetooth source (it has to read files). So, long story short, I got this mixer (3 days from Ft. Wayne to Pittsburgh via FedEx ground) for two reasons.
1.) To connect a Bluetooth receiver to my digital mixer so I can simply stream music.
2.) To serve as an analog sub group for my overall main mix.
The routing is simple, there is Phantom power available on each of the 8 channels. The stereo send is in both 1/4" and RCA formats, which is perfect for my ch. 15 & 16 RCA inputs. If you're looking for more channels to expand your current rig, I highly recommend this mixer!
mic'n up the drums...
have a nuce mic kit for my drums and the PA board did not quite fit the bill for the first gig with them,
Had not enough channels and had to Split mics and share four channles with 8 mics... it was a disater!!!

it was an outdoor party. its an annual thing so I researched equipment and found this mixer. I messaged Kurt exactly what I wanted to do for the PA... *Mic the kit, individualy and send them all to ONE board and send that to the main PA.. volume controls for each mic and a master vol for the little extra control.. He said it will do EXACTLY that , and it did. it was worth every cent I spent and every minute I spoent stting it up... if you want a great inexpensive mixer for your drum kit * I mean only 8 channels but enough for most kits( then BUY THIS MIXER!!
Each input is eithe LINE IN or XLR and each channel as PHANTOM POWER!!!
This thing is AMAZING!!!
Music background: Drummer...
Great rack addition
The MX821S is the perfect accessory for my rack as I can assign the 8 channels to several instruments and not constantly have to change out cables. The onboard phantom power makes the shift between a powered mic and a dynamic mic too easy. I'd highly recommend this piece to anyone doing home recording that does not like having a desktop mixer taking up space and dividing your time between hook-ups. This mixer is quiet and versatile.
Music background: Professional
Good stuff
Have 2 of these for traveling evangelical group. Mounted in one rack for 12 mics. Running them piggy backed. No problems after 2 years of service. Simple enough that ALL can operate them.
