Incredible Value in a Masterful Stage Piano

Kawai's MP7SE is a superb stage piano, with hundreds of amazing sounds, class-leading action, and outstanding real-time control. Its 88-note Responsive Hammer III weighted action with let-off feels like the real deal, and its 256 onboard Harmonic Imaging XL sounds are simply stunning. Six reverbs and 129 effects, all tweakable, let you craft your patches to perfection. With four MIDI zones, pitch and mod wheels, expression pedal jack, USB, and an onboard recorder, the MP7SE also makes a superb master controller for your stage or studio rig. Incredible feel, sound, and versatility — have it all with the Kawai MP7SE.

Harmonic Imaging technology delivers stunning grand piano sound

Sit down at the Kawai MP7SE and play. The stunning piano sound you hear is none other than the meticulously sampled sound of a hand-crafted Kawai concert grand piano, with all 88 keys painstakingly recorded and faithfully reproduced using Kawai's Harmonic Imaging XL technology. This proprietary process accurately re-creates the immense dynamic range of the grand piano, giving you a truly impressive measure of expressiveness, from ppp to fff and beyond.

An easily-accessible treasure trove of amazing sounds

If pianos were the only sounds onboard the MP7SE, it would be a fabulous value, but there's a total of 256 amazing sounds, arranged logically in eight groups: Piano, E.Piano, Drawbar, Organ, Strings/Vocal, Brass/Wind X32, Pad/Synth, Bass/Guitar. With 32 sounds per category and the MP7SE's generous LCD display, you can get to what you need, quickly and intuitively. And to customize your sounds, there are six reverbs and 129 effects, all tweakable. The Kawai MP7SE sports 256 notes of polyphony, so it can handle anything you conjure up.

An ideal master keyboard for your MIDI rig

You can connect to your Mac or PC via the MP7SE's USB port, and to your hardware synths via MIDI, controlling both simultaneously. The MP7SE lets you control up to four MIDI channels at once — each with its own custom key ranges and assignable pedal and knob CCs. Four separately configurable zones let you easily layer and split the internal sounds. You can also tweak external MIDI devices in real time, or control them simultaneously. The four zones feature independent reverb and FX controls, while the Main zone sports two FX blocks and an amp simulator.

At Kawai, expertise and quality are baked into every instrument

Kawai is held in the highest regard among the serious keyboardists here at Sweetwater, and for good reason. The company has been crafting fine pianos since 1927, and they pour their considerable knowledge and experience into every digital piano they produce. Loaded with sophisticated innovations such as Kawai's responsive Hammer III weighted action and Harmonic Imaging XL with 88-key piano sampling, it's little wonder that the MP7SE plays and sounds like a "real" piano. And a really fine one, at that.

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

My "new" demo mp7se

Thank you Sweetwater!! Thank you so much. I expected some sort of ding or dent, being a demo, but it looks brand spanking new.

I am so excited. It is absolutely perfect. I cannot thank you enough. The candy bag was a very nice touch!!

I will be buying more demo products from you guys.

Sincerely, Jenn Cribbs

Superb Piano and More

I've had the MP7se for about 2 years and it has been flawless. It has a huge range of sounds and effects, and the key feel is very realistic. Because the weighted keys are a touch heavy, like a real grand piano hammer, I tend to play it on Light+ which is a nice option to have. The 10 song recorder is very handy for capturing ideas quickly without needing an interface or computer. It might be heavy for gigging (unless you have roadies!); I just use it at home. Love it!

for now 5 star

for now five star until i know more about this, i tried this out at a store and i've just felt like this is for me. it has the best key action and the most beautiful realistic sound generator.
i'll review this again as i get it and use it, im hoping that mine will not have the issues the other folks have had, i wiggle have gone for nord, but nord is just plastic, and the keybed isn't that great on them, i tried a yahama p125, i don't dig that because it has this weird automatic volume control where as you play it turns down by itself, this was the only keyboard (mp7) that i found that looks expensive and feels expensive and professional

Incredible

I was nervous because of some bad reviews and went for it because of how everyone on the music boards raves about Kawai sound and keybed feel. I couldn't be happier. It's easy to operate and feels and sounds like a big lush grand piano. you won't go wrong with this. It's the best keybed I've played of any digital piano!

Great piano

We bought this piano several years ago for use as a second practice piano, and to haul around for the occasional low-key (no pun intended) gig. We have been more than happy with the key action, sound, and usability. Also, I can attest to its durability. It is in a recording studio heavily used by kids and teenagers, and not once, ever, have we had a problem with stuck keys, breakage, etc. It is several years old, and works like new. I would highly recommend this piano, especially if the key action is important to you.
Music background: Father of several musicians in training, and sucker for teenagers who want to use my recording studio.

As the second-largest piano producer in the world, Kawai has been a household name for more than 100 years. Many of the pianists and keyboardists here at Sweetwater have been playing Kawai instruments our entire lives, and we're always thrilled to turn the players we know on to the quality Kawai pianos and keyboards we carry. People step into the Sweetwater Piano Showroom every day looking for that perfect instrument, and it's always fun to see them discover the great feel and exquisite sound Kawai offers.
