A pro-level instrument for the dedicated player
Anchored by an ergonomic alder body, the Ibanez Mode MDM1606 boasts a lightweight, easily navigable profile, ideal for double-encore sets and extended recording sessions. Likewise, a roasted maple neck sculpted into an MDM6 profile, complete with a deluxe satin finish, ensures you'll have seamless access to all 24 frets of the rosewood fingerboard. And while the low gloss finish and blacked-out hardware bestow the MDM1606 with quite the striking aesthetic, simply picking up this bass will instantly remind you that it is designed for the front lines.

Total tonal authority
The MDM1606 is ready to tackle any sonic challenge, courtesy of two onboard Delta S6J single-coil pickups. These hum-cancelling pickups are designed specifically for versatility, capable of covering the spectrum from clean, pop-based thump to warm jazz sway to gritty, driven grooves. The Mode MDM1606's capabilities are further enhanced by the inclusion of Master Tone and Volume controls, a 3-band EQ for active tonal sculpting, an EQ bypass switch for passive directness, and a 3-way Mid-frequency switch driven by a Hexa Mid system.
Ibanez: a brief history
Ibanez’s obsessive attention to detail has made the company a global guitar and bass powerhouse, but it didn’t happen overnight. Ibanez began its life in 1908 as the Hoshino Gakki company in Nagoya, Japan. However, the company didn’t get into the guitar business until 1929, when it started importing Salvador Ibanez guitars from Spain. In 1935, Hoshino Gakki began building Spanish acoustic guitars under the “Ibanez Salvador” name, which was later shortened to Ibanez. Although Ibanez started manufacturing electric guitars in 1957, the company was relatively unknown in the West until the 1960s, when it started producing guitars based on American designs. By the late 1970s, Ibanez began manufacturing the innovative, original guitar and bass designs that the company is now known for. The company is also famous for its effect pedals, most notably the Tube Screamer. Sweetwater is proud to offer you such a fine line of distinguished musical instruments.
