Sound Your Best Onstage

While under-saddle pickup technology has advanced in leaps and bounds in recent decades, it’s no substitute for miked-up tone. When you’re onstage, turn to a Neumann MCM 114 Set for guitar! This MCM 114 Set includes the outstanding KK 14 microphone capsule, a flexible gooseneck, and a MC 9 guitar clip. The KK 14 capsule leverages a proprietary layered architecture that helps it capture the true essence of your acoustic instrument. It has a cardioid polar pattern, low self-noise, and high SPL handling that ensures you always get a clean, isolated signal regardless of dynamics. Use it live, in the studio, on TV, or in a concert hall: you can trust your Neumann MCM 114 set to deliver the goods every time, regardless of your environment. Best of all, Neumann offers a full range of instrument-specific mounting kits that are available right here at Sweetwater.

KK 14 capsule

The MCM 114’s sound comes courtesy of Neumann’s newly designed KK 14 capsule. This small-diaphragm electret condenser utilizes a confidential 8-layer design for fine-tuned performance. Developed for close-miking, the KK 14 produces sublime results on acoustic instruments of all kinds. It balances the girthy bass response needed to mic double bass and timpani without sacrificing the midrange, or the vivid high-end detail Neumann is known for. And thanks to its low self-noise design and high SPL handling (153dB maximum), the KK 14 capsule will catch every nuance of your performance from pianissimo to fortississimo.

Includes an optimized mounting kit

Your MCM 114 Set for guitar also includes Neumann’s MC 9 guitar clip. The adjustable clip features padded contact points to protect your instrument when in use. The MC 9 guitar clip adjusts between 3.3 and 5.1 inches. And with the included reducer, the MC 9 is capable of clamping to instruments as thin as 2 inches in width. With its excellent adjustability, Neumann told Sweetwater that the MC 9 is compatible with ukuleles, dobros, cellos, and many more acoustic sources. Want to use the MCM 114 on sources like piano or drums? No problem! Neumann also offers a variety of instrument-specific mounting options to choose from (sold separately).

Ready for anything

As we mentioned before, the MCM 114 can capture the essence of any acoustic instrument. Beyond its impressive sound, this miniature microphone is prepared to be the workhorse of your microphone stable. It has a titanium chassis that’s tough enough to easily handle full tours. The rotatable gooseneck prevents twisted and damaged cables. What’s more, the MCM 114 has an interchangeable cable design that allows it to interface natively with most bodypack transmitters. Want to run a wired connection? No problem. Your MCM 114 set includes an MCM 100 output stage with a full-sized XLR connection. Wherever you play, whatever the gear, the MCM 114 Set is ready for every situation.

Note: Neumann manufactures cables (sold separately) with 3.5 mm jack (Sennheiser), 3-pin Lemo (Audio-Technica), 4-pin mini-XLR (Shure), and MicroDot connectors.

Neumann MCM 114 Set for Guitar Features:

  • MCM 114 microphone set for guitar and other acoustic sources
  • KK 14 capsule captures the true essence of your instrument
  • 153dB maximum SPL handling lets you record any acoustic source without distortion
  • Flexible gooseneck enables optimal placement
  • MCM 100 output stages allow for wired connections
  • Interchangeable cable design allows use with any wireless system
  • MC 9 guitar clip adjusts from 3.3–5.1 inches (85–132mm)
  • Included reducer lets you clamp to instruments as small as 2 inches (85mm)
  • Includes cable, windscreen, and soft case for storage and transport

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Nice!

Love this mic! Very transparent with lots of headroom, using it for classical guitar, the mount works really well. I want another for my cello!
Rated 2/5

Not great for live setting

Good luck using this on stage with a monitor. The signal is so low that you have to crank it, and then you get crazy feedback. You'll need to ensure you are playing somewhere with a good and attentive sound engineer. And, well, that's hard to count on. I'll be returning mine.
