Finesse Full-bodied Tone with a Mesa/Boogie 6L6 Duet!

When tubes die or fade, there’s no better option than a pair of fresh Mesa/Boogie tubes from Sweetwater! Mesa/Boogie 6L6 tubes are stringently made with high-quality structural integrity that puts players first. These are the exact same tubes that come stock with 6L6-equipped Mesa/Boogie amplifiers at the factory, so you can rest assured you’re getting familiar tone and reliable product. What’s more, this matched tube duet is a great choice for any 6L6-based amp, not just Mesa/Boogie amps. The 6L6 is frequently associated with “American” tone — warm high headroom clarity with present but focused midrange. Mesa/Boogie 6L6 tubes are prized for their impressive bass and low-mids with articulate top-end chime. They’re an ideal fit for blues, country, rock, metal, and most guitar-driven musical styles.

Mesa/Boogie 6L6 Power Tubes - Matched Duet:

  • Rich, full-bodied tone with deep low end, tailored mids, and pleasing top-end chime for sparkling clarity
  • The same power tubes factory-installed on Mesa/Boogie 6L6 amplifiers — a perfect replacement or backup
  • Matched for optimized performance
  • Important Notice for International Customers: Mesa/Boogie products sold by Sweetwater are intended for use within the United States. We are unable to ship any Mesa/Boogie products outside of the US.

Mesa Boogie 6L6 power tubes
These new Mesa Boogie 6L6 power tubes brought my Pignose G60VR Tube amp back to life and it sounds awesome
Highly recommend these!
I bought these tubes for my Badlander 50 because the stock EL34 tubes were good but wanted to try some 6L6 tubes that weren't the typical Mesas (6L6GC 445)
These absolutely were what I needed to add a little more punch and roundness to my amp and seeing how they are really TAD tubes which I've put in a bunch of other amps I know they're reliable. Shout out to Tom Phillips for getting them to me quickly and damage free
as always!
Best power tube for the JP2C
I have a Mesa Boogie JP2C from 2016. I thought this amp was great with the STR440 power tubes. When it was time to replace them, the STR440 was no longer in production. The alternative was the STR443 which is what I understand was the choice for the JP2C model in place of the STR440. They were ok, not bad but thought the STR440 was much better with a tighter bass response. First saw the STR448 announcement and decided to go for it. WOW. These tubes took me by surprise in all counts. First hour of use they sounded very close to the STR440. Second time I got to play through the amp I noticed the low end to begin to become more apparent. Almost similar to the STR443 but not as loose. One the third day it has been total bliss. Low end is there but tight, not quite as dry as the STR440. Much more complex harmonic overtones and enhanced grind characteristics. Also found that running the JP2C in 100W at bedroom level did not result in the low end dominance like the STR440 or STR443 tubes provided. First time I did not need to use the shred mode at reduced volume. Bass remained balanced with the mids and treble. Get the JP2C into its sweet spot (channel master at noon) and explore a new tone farm. Similar character as the STR440 as I can dial in more or less bass as desired but only better. the STR443 I had to dial the bass out. I liked them so much I had to order a second set. Just a note, they appear to be a bit taller than the STR440 or STR443 so it was a bit tricky to get them in. Awesome tube for the JP2C.

Mesa boogie tubes
Well, after swapping the 6L6 for the E034, it does give you more headroom and sound better for what I was trying to get out of it, the tone
Thank you again
6L6 STR 448
Was ready for a swap in the MarkV 90W. I prefer the sound characteristics of the STR 448 now that I have these installed.
I've been a Sweetwater customer since 2012 and my sales Engineer Brian Kearns has accompanied all of my purchases through the years. Excellent support and Zero issues. Thanks, Brian and Sweetwater.

It's hard to imagine a more quintessentially modern guitar amplifier than a Mesa/Boogie, and when Sweetwater guitarists want high-gain tone, Mesa is where they start. One thing we love about these amps is their sheer versatility, such as the massive range of tone you get from each channel, the freedom to use the tubes you love, onboard CabClone cabinet emulation, and MIDI control. And it's not just guitar amps - Mesa/Boogie's bass amps and pedals are equally cool. What's more, thanks to our incredibly close relationship with Mesa, you can even customize your own amp right here on Sweetwater's website! Get the sound and style you want from your next amp, with a Mesa/Boogie from Sweetwater.
