The Perfect Stage Performance Mandolin

Plugged or unplugged, the Washburn M3SWETWRK Mandolin is a world-class performer. Its punchy traditional-sounding tone is perfect for any style of music. This F-style mandolin features a solid spruce top and book-matched solid maple back and sides, supplying you with a bright sound and projection that's second-to-none. And when its time to hit the stage, an onboard piezo pickup and active electronics provide top-shelf amplified tone. The M3SWETWRK's easy playability and well-rounded sonic character make it a shoo-in for bluegrass, country, Celtic, and rock alike. Even traditionalists will appreciate the natural-sounding tone and acoustic projection of the M3SWETWRK Mandolin.

Spruce-topped mandolin has excellent sound projection

For optimal projection, the Washburn M3SWETWRK Mandolin is fitted with a solid spruce top. Spruce has long been used in instruments ranging from violins and guitars to mandolins for its bright sound and great projection. An expertly fitted rosewood bridge makes full contact with the carved spruce top to capture and transfer the string vibrations of every note you play on the Washburn M3SWETWRK Mandolin.

Maple back and sides deliver classic mandolin tones

Maple has been the choice wood for the back and sides of instruments such as the mandolin and violin. Not only does it look great but it adds a brightness and volume that other woods don't. The Washburn M3SWETWRK Mandolin sports a book-matched solid maple back and sides to deliver outstanding acoustic tones.

Since 1883, Washburn has been producing fretted instruments

With humble beginnings in Chicago that date back to the 1880s, Washburn is an American institution in musical instrument manufacturing. From guitars to mandolins, banjos, ukuleles, and more, Washburn has long been a recognized and cherished brand among musicians. Many of the biggest names in folk, blues, and rock 'n' roll have played these well-crafted, quality instruments. Washburn combines quality construction with premium materials to deliver an instrument that's ready to perform on any stage. First time player

So far so good. First mandolin I have ever owned. I own 3 guitars and 2 ukuleles. Plays easily. A couple of the tuners turn a little hard but other than that I absolutely love everything about this instrument. Solid construction, visually appealing, sounds bright, and the electronics work well. Learning Silent Night and my chords for starters. Great customer service by Greg. Nice case. Looking forward to years of playing this gorgeous instrument.

Red Red Wine

I'm a long time guitar player who is learning mandolin. As a gift, I received the lowest end Loar mandolin. While much appreciated it is next to unplayable. After months of research on buying a higher end mandolin I came to a few conclusions. A great mandolin that is made in the US will cost at the very least $3,000, most of which are much higher. Browsing and playing these mandolins in stores is almost impossible unless you live by one of the great mando retailers like The Mandolin Store in Arizona. Most good music stores carry a few cheap ones and some expensive used vintage. This Washburn turned out to be a great compromise. It's a big step up from the $300 low-end mandos and plays, looks and sounds great. Even the electrics sound decent. And with Sweetwater's comprehensive set-up it arrived fully playable.

Nice Mandolin

I really like this mandolin.
The price was great, and as always the customer service and advice from Scott is top notch!!
That is exactly why my wife and I shop at Sweetwater frequently.

Fine player, but...

The pure acoustic version of this mando with a K&K passive transducer, endpin jack and a Boss BASS inline graphic eq is a much better option. To get a good mando sound one has to pull the graphic hi slider all the way down and do your settings from there. The electronics on this version are seriously sub-standard. It's a great idea, but poorly executed. The aforementioned set up is exactly what I have been using for years playing in a blues/classic rock band. We do Copperhead Road and Losing My Religion.

Beautiful mandolin but elecrtronics a problem

I loved the finish on this mandolin. It is truly beautiful If it had only been an acoustic, I would have been ore than satisfied. The electronics were a problem. There was string imbalance, where the high e would not have equivalent volume as the other strings, when amplified. I was not successful in correcting this. The saddle sagged due to the weakness from the channel needed for the piezo pickup. I had to order another saddle from Washburn and they were very helpful. Otherwise, the pickup was very loud which was great for live playing but it sounded like an electric guitar as much as a mandolin. It was not very "woody". If you are not concerned about the pickups, and all you want is an acoustic instrument, this is a beautiful mandolin and well made.

I sold mine, but miss it.
