Spruce-topped mandolin has excellent sound projection

For optimal projection, the Washburn M3SWE mandolin is fitted with a solid spruce top. Spruce has long been used in instruments ranging from violins and guitars to mandolins for its bright sound and great projection. An expertly fitted rosewood bridge makes full contact with the carved spruce top to capture and transfer the string vibrations of every note you play on the Washburn M3SWE mandolin.

Maple back and sides deliver classic mandolin tones

Maple has been the choice wood for the back and sides of instruments such as the mandolin and violin. Not only does it look great but it adds a brightness and volume that other woods don't. The Washburn M3SWE mandolin sports a book-matched solid maple back and sides to deliver outstanding acoustic tones. When those plugged-in gigs come up, the M3SWE has a built-in pickup that delivers acoustic tones to your amp or mixer.

Beautiful mandolin!

This mandolin is the acoustic-electric version of the M3SWK. It has a beautiful wine-red gloss finish, with snowflake inlays on the fretboard. The electronics are great with volume and treble/bass EQ which really helps when playing with with other musicians or playing outside. The tone is excellent. My mandolin had only one setup problem and that was a nut with a low slot resulting in buzzing on the open, inner E string. I will replace it with a new bone nut, which is a simple upgrade which should also improve the tone, even further. Comes with a very nice hardshell case with felt, inner lining. This is my third Washburn mandolin. I really like their line of instruments!

Good mandolin

Liked it right out of the box. After about 1 1/2 hour of set up it's a sweet piece. high notes e string a little weak stronger bass strings. great for chops. I'll replace the nut with bone. should make much better I love the tale piece. can't beat it for the money. I have played a lot of higher priced mandos that don't sound as good
Music background: been playing string instruments for 53 years
