Ludwig Snare Drum-5.5.×14 inch

This is my first acoustic snare Ludwig Drum.Made very well.Sounds Great. Loud.Funny. I wanted to add this to my E-Drum set.I couldnt get a bigger snare for my type Roland model.

Great snare drum

This is the best snare drum I have even owned. If you're looking for an inexpensive steel snare drum this one is great.

Fantastic snare drum

I purchased this last year and have been impressed with the sound of this drum. It is bright, articulate and has a nice 'pop' that my bandmates find great especially for funk and R&B music although it would do well with any genre. Don't be fooled by the reasonable price! I used to have the Ludwig supraphonic and to be honest this is very close but for a quarter of the price. I highly recommend it.

REAL bad hoops. I haven't investigated much further than the hoops since EVERY resonant head i put on gets completely deformed.

Basically, the hoop is either warping under tension, or the hoop is allowing the head to warp to such an extreme degree that the surface of the head PASSES the edge of the hoop, and TOUCHES THE BASKET. I've broken more reso heads with this snare than i have with four other snares over five years. It's crazy too, cause it doesn't sound half bad... but I would never trust it in a gig, or even a long studio session.

My advice: if you feel like you have to buy this snare, be sure to buy a pair of high quality hoops. But, then be prepared to discover the next cost-cut this POS model has to offer. I LOVE ludwig snares, but this aint it, yall. Go with the supraphonic. Save up.
