Revolutionary Tube/FET Mic System from Lewitt

Recording engineers here at Sweetwater have put the Lewitt LCT 1040 tube microphone system through the paces and — wow! The glowing heart of the microphone body is a premium E88CC/6DJ8 tube from JJ Electronics. So yes: the LCT 1040 is a tube mic, with all the euphonic sonic attributes you’d expect. But what’s truly impressive is that there is also a FET circuit in play here — and you can dial seamlessly between them from the included remote control, which neatly and conveniently docks with the mic’s sleek power supply. The remote (which can be undocked, letting you manage everything from your monitoring sweet spot) also lets you select between the mic’s five seamlessly blendable polar patterns, three highpass filters, and three pre-attenuation settings. The brilliant design connotes form and function in equal measure and frankly, we’re blown away by both the sonic performance and sheer elegance of the amazing Lewitt LCT 1040 mic system.

Two circuits, infinite sonic flexibility

The Lewitt LCT 1040’s Tube circuit offers a choice of four distinct and classically tubular sonic characteristics — Clear, Warm, Dark, and Saturated — that are selectable from a rotary switch on the remote control. The FET circuit delivers an uber-detailed, crystal-clear rendition of the source. Combined, the Tube control and the FET/Tube Circuit pot give you an incredible amount of flexibility to shape the microphone’s sound to suit the task at hand. The remote control can be undocked from the power supply and connected with a standard 3-pin XLR (a premium gold-plated Neutrik is included), so you can tweak the sound to perfection from the comfort of your console. The Lewitt LCT 1040 mic system gives you the flexibility to accommodate literally any source in any recording scenario, no matter how challenging.

Stage or studio, there’s a Lewitt mic that’s perfect for the job

Since the fall of 2009, Lewitt microphones have made their way onto some of the biggest stages across Europe and America. Combining exceptional clarity and forward-thinking technical innovation at a remarkably accessible price point, these wonderful mics more than rival long-standing industry standards. What’s more, the selection runs the gamut from robust dynamic handheld models to top-notch studio condensers. Whether you’re looking for something for your next gig or your next recording session, a Lewitt microphone from Sweetwater is an excellent choice.

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Reviews

Can't Go Wrong... Seriously
The Lewitt 1040 has been the epitome of my recording gear lifetime. I've owned several mid tier mics and have recorded with mics at or above it's price range. The reason for my title of this review, is that I literally can create a tone for any song, for any vocal, for any instrument with just a few tweaks of the remote. Ironically, I had the setting from a previous session applied for a new session and forgot to switch it. Guess what - it still sounded incredible! The return on investment in a small recording studio has been amazing. This thing is a superior mic with superior quality and ultimate flexibility.

Fantastic!
The ability to switch between FET and Tube…or blend between is a luxury I will struggle to go without ever again! Awesome mic and proud of the creators at Lewitt pushing mics forward. Side note, the ability to see the tube light up gets the singer very excited every time lol. Small detail, but definitely makes the singers feel sexy.
Best microphone ever

Can't go wrong with Lewitt1040, perfect for different voices.

After a first try, i let the U87Ai and WA47T retire right away :")

Best mic ever
This mic is the best mic in the world. The only thing it isn't is a ribbon. Nice to see that it has come down in price. It sounds great on everything.
The best mic I've ever used
I've been recording for over 20 years and this is hands down the best mic I've ever used. Build quality is 2nd to none. Shock mount is the best by far. Included pop shield actually works.
All that would mean nothing if the sound wasn't great, though. I've never used a mic that could grab so much high end info without being harsh at all. Vocals go right to the front. And the 5 circuits on this mic are all really useful. You'll be able to get the sound you're looking for with this mic.
