A Showroom of Electric Pianos in a Pedal!

Electro-Harmonix has done it again with the Key9 Electric Piano Machine guitar effects pedal. Following in the footsteps of the now-classic C9 and B9 organ pedals, the Key9 brings you a room full of vintage electric pianos in a single pedal. Not only does this pedal transform your guitar tone into one of four classic electric piano tones and three percussion instruments with jaw-dropping realism, it performs like a champ. There are two great ways you can blend in your dry guitar signal, giving you even more sonic territory to explore. Plug in and you'll see why the Electro-Harmonix Key9 Electric Piano Machine is destined to be a classic.

Electro-Harmonix Key9 Electric Piano Machine Guitar Effects Pedal at a Glance:
  • A full range of presets delivers classic electric piano sounds and more
  • More than just an electric piano pedal
  • Two killer ways to mix your guitar with your organ effects
A full range of presets delivers classic electric piano sounds and more

The Electro-Harmonix Key9 Electric Piano Machine is a box full of classic electric piano and percussion tones. In addition to the standard tine and reed electric pianos, you also get three percussion sounds and a glorious Tri-stereo Chorus effect. The Dynamo setting gives you the well-known "Dyno My" modded Fender Rhodes sound that ruled the '80s. For the instantly recognizable reed piano sound associated with many famous songs and bands, you'll want to use the Wurli preset. And when you need the quintessential tine-tinged tones, the Suitcase and Eighty Eight presets are the way to go. Each preset on the Electro-Harmonix Key9 Electric Piano Machine is loaded with classic effects like phase, tremolo, and chorus to give you an authentic vibe.

More than just an electric piano pedal

In addition to the electric piano's sound, the Electro-Harmonix Key9 Electric Piano Machine has a trio of percussion instruments that will expand the sound of any band. You can choose from the marimba, vibraphone, and steel drums. The Key9 pedal is also loaded with a classic tonewheel organ with rotating speaker. And last, but definitely not least, EHX built in a lush tri-chorus effect that delivers rich, textured sounds. Grab the Electro-Harmonix Key9 Electric Piano Machine guitar effects pedal and add a whole new dimension to your playing.

Two killer ways to mix your guitar with your organ effects

There's no denying that the Electro-Harmonix Key9 Electric Piano Machine's effects are absolutely awe inspiring, but you can really work some magic by blending your dry guitar tone into the mix. Lucky for you, Electro-Harmonix decided to give you two cool ways to do this. If you're like most of us, and you only gig with a single amp, then you can simply blend the two sounds together via the designated Dry and Keys knobs. But, if you're in the studio or you're more of a high-tech guitarist, then you'll appreciate the Key9 Electric Piano Machine's dual outputs, which let you run two amps or set up more complex pedalboard configurations. And if you're looking for a way to put that to good use, just give your Sweetwater Sales Engineer a call - you're bound to get some great suggestions.

Electro-Harmonix Key9 Electric Piano Machine Guitar Effects Pedal Features:
  • The perfect way to play classic electric piano tones with your guitar
  • Transforms your guitar tone - no tracking problems, glitches, mistriggers, or false notes!
  • Controls let you set up each instrument's sound to taste
  • Many presets have built-in effects such as chorus, phase, and tremolo
  • Blend wet and dry signals in the box or send them to separate outputs for complex rig setups
  • Combine with the C9 and B9 organ pedals for a complete keyboard rig for guitar
Unleash the sound of classic electric pianos with the Electro-Harmonix Key9 Electric Piano Machine guitar effects pedal!
What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Reviews

electro-harmonix Key 9 Electro Piano Machine Pedal
Well, I haven't had the time recently to play it, but I am familiar enough with similar electro-harmonix pedals to know that Key 9 will do exactly what it is supposed to. But I am very much looking forward to using it!
Music background: I began playing pro-level musicianship in 1964. Yes, I am old but I still love playing Sweetwater stuff!
A BOX OF CREATIVITY TO EXPLORE
Really this is a review of three pedals. I have the B9, Key9, and Mel9. I cannot overstate how much fun these pedals are, or how much they bring to the creative process. I've had the B9 for years and use it both as a fill, blending guitar and organ tones, and sometimes in a loop with a volume pedal to blend it in as needed. This thing is fun. When I really want to raise the roof, I run the Organ side of the pedal out to a bass amp and crank up the Bach.
The Key9 is just as useful. If I want just a little bit of that Rhodes tone without having to play guitar and keys at the same time, I blend it in. The Key9 also has a steel drum sound that I love. Before the Key9, I created the steel drum tones with a stack of effects in the TC Plethora X5. This is easier and more consistent.
The Mel9 is my favorite to experiment with. Get it and you'll see.
Watch Josh Scott's video on Y__Tub_ "There's Nothing Like the EHX 9 Series" from Jan 2024 for a lot more info and examples.
Also, get yourself a compressor to go before the 9 series pedals. Compression makes them much easier to play consistently.
Music background: Many years of guitar
A pedal that lives up to its name!
Got this today and immediately employed it in my studio. I'm in love! Made my Strat sound like a Rhodes! Tracking is spot-on and the sounds are all mind-blowing. Gonna enjoy this for a long time!
Too Much Fun!
This is my third Electro-Harmonix keyboard related pedal, and by far it is the most fun - plus the sounds are unbelievable. Beyond the fun and great voices is just how usable I find it. It inspires me with the range of editing you can do with each voice. I find myself turning the guitar volume off just to experience the keyboard and mallet sounds. This pedal is more fun than when I had all the guitar synth gear on the planet, and it so simple to use without a special pickup or 13 pin cable required. Don't hesitate and buy the KEY9 today.
Music background: 53 as a guitar player and decades in worship bands.
K9 electric piano machine pedal
For my live solo gigs, this pedal adds a new dimension to my sound when I also loop my ideas to play. It gives an extra cool voice for my band Oui'3 when doing concerts across the United States. In the studio it gives a producer a new angle from the sounds that I can get from it. And, the sounds are truly amazing ! Buy this!
Music background: Musician, educator, session player, jazz Los Angeles based guitarist
