Sweet Tone and Balanced Sound

This Zildjian 20" K Series Ride cymbal gives you the essence of Zildjian's K Series sound. Originally developed by Kerope Zildjian in 19th Century Turkey, the deep, dry, and shimmering sound of K Series cymbals has been a mainstay of jazz drumming, finding favor among such legendary drummers as Art Blakey, Elvin Jones, and Tony Williams. Thanks to its unique bronze alloy and elaborately hammered surface, this Zildjian 20" K Ride provides you with a truly inspiring range of tone and expression that lets you play it any way you like. You're going to be glad you added a Zildjian 20" K Series Ride cymbal to your kit.

Cast bronze cymbals provide premium tone and projection

Made from a secret alloy (comprised of copper, tin, and traces of silver), this Zildjian 20" K Series Ride was individually cast and shaped via a complex sequence of heating, rolling, shaping, hammering, and lathing. It's painstaking techniques and traditional methods like this that give each Zildjian 20" K Series Ride its unique tone and broad range of expression. Cast bronze cymbals such as the 20" K Series Ride present you with a rich, full-bodied sound that only improves with age. They also provide you with exceptional projection, clarity, and durability that far outstrips most other cymbals.

Zildjian 20" K Series Ride Cymbal Features:
  • A great ride cymbal for jazz and other contemporary musical styles
  • Hammered and lathed surface allows sound to ring out with full dynamic expression
  • Traditional finish looks stunning and patinas naturally
  • Perfect for players of all skill levels
  • Made using traditional techniques developed in the 19th century by Kerope Zildjian
Add a sweet, rich, and expressive ride cymbal to your kit with a Zildjian 20" K Series Ride from Sweetwater!

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

20" K Ride

FINALLY found a replacement for my 30 year old Crash Ride. Perfect tone and nice sharp bell. Perfect for the small to medium bars I play at. This can be played as a crash as well when hit right. Beautiful cymbal too. Matches perfect with the K Sweet Crashes I bought. Thx to my Rep Parker Denny!

Amazing

This symbol is the perfect blend of high and mid's
Rated 5/5

Excellent

Delivers a rich wash with a great lower pitched ping. The bell is clear with good projection and very musical

The cymbal delivers nice crashes so it's very versatile. Recommended for jazz and funk.
Rated 4.5/5

Mellow and humble

The Zildjian K series 20" ride works extremely well for recording drums where the kit cuts and the cymbals sit. For players with a refined sense of velocity in their strokes. For 'riding', I found the 20" to best match the sound I imagine for a ride: cuts in a smooth way, no brittle attack, ping blends into wash. Responsive to your touch; can play like a jazz ride if you accent your notes, or like a rock ride if you ping like a rock drummer.

For crash/riding the 22" SEEMED ideal but the 20" won the shootout with its overtones in a guitar-heavy track. Very slightly less gong-like than the 22" though a drummer would notice more than a listener. If you want to "fill out the sound" during solos, the 22" might suit you. Much less bright than the 20" A Custom ride but you should hear for yourself the blend of crisp and mellow. Demo in your room before you buy, or return in 30 days and try the different sizes.

As far as durability, not sure how much abuse this guy can handle. Seems about average 3 months into playing it regularly. I'm afraid to bang into the thing like I have with Zildjian As, but fortunately it crashes extremely well with softer controlled blows.

For versatility, this is just bright enough to work with A Custom hats or a crash if need be, too mellow for K Customs. As always, best suited with Ks. In my room, it makes Sabians seem metallic when mixing the two manufacturers.

Play it with your kit in your room before you buy it.
Music background: Recording engineer, drummer

Ask any drummer at Sweetwater, and chances are, we'll tell you that Zildjian represents the gold - or rather bronze - standard in cymbal making. Seriously, Avedis Zildjian may have been trying to make gold, but he did even better when he formulated what's arguably the best cymbal material on the planet. We've played virtually every type of Zildjian cymbal out there, and you won't find anyone at Sweetwater who wouldn't happily recommend their instruments to you, plus their sticks and other accessories are also pretty sweet. Whether you're grabbing your first S or ZBT pack or have saved up for the A or K series cymbals you've always wanted, Sweetwater is your source for all things Zildjian.
