Wield Glass-breaking Lows and Heaps of Hardcore Tone

When Glassjaw was born from a chance encounter at a summer camp in 1993, co-founder Justin Beck could’ve hardly predicted that the band would become a legendary force among the nascent New York post-hardcore scene. Now, decades later, his multifaceted talents have been refined for a signature instrument engineered to deliver the sonic haymakers that have defined their sound for decades: the Schecter Justin Beck P-4. Outfitted with premium tonewoods, rock-solid USA-made Schecter pickups, and custom inlays that include a celebratory “1993” design, on the 12th fret, bassists at Sweetwater agree that Justin Beck’s P-4 comprises the ideal mix of detailed playing and thundering brutality to make your sound go Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

It’s all about fundamentals

Glassjaw’s sound requires a solid sonic foundation, and Schecter’s signature P-4 bass for Justin Beck exemplifies an elegance often overlooked in the world of bass guitars. Its tonal profile is anchored in a swamp ash body, known for eliciting robust fundamentals in its voicing with precise articulation and a straightforward heft that’s mostly free of overtones. Its neck and fingerboard are each crafted from hard-rock maple. This distinctive mix results in full-spectrum clarity, enduring sustain, and crystalline clarity, ensuring tones throughout each register are exquisitely voiced without compromising depth or projection.

Crafted for power

For all its formidable firepower, Schecter understood that Justin Beck requires the right electronics for the job. Fittingly, the company spared no effort in finding the optimum match, landing on a P/J pair of USA-made Schecter Monstertone-series pickups. Both are designed with Ceramic 8 magnets, with the neck-mounted Monstertone-P sporting a Teflon-coated wire harness design. Meanwhile, the bridge-mounted Monstertone-J features a 3-conductor Teflon-coated harness with a tapped design. As a result, the straightforward control scheme features a push-pull coil tap with the Master Tone control, accompanied by a Master Volume knob, 3-way selector, and a mini toggle for the coil split. Tone-shaping opportunities abound, and these high-octane passive powerhouses are raring to rip up the pit.

Versatile playability and exceptional access

With hard rock maple in both the neck and the fretboard, Justin Beck’s signature P-4 bass provides a satisfying tactility in its Thin “C”-shaped bolt-on neck, effortlessly accommodating numerous playstyles as the ample treble-side cutaway affords room for time spent in any register. Moreover, hard rock wasn’t chosen simply for its tonal merits. Compared to softer species of maple, hard rock has an increased dimensional stability, contributing to its louder projection, longer sustain, and resilience to the elements, resulting in longer-lasting tone with far less likelihood of warping or twisting. Sonic sculpting throughout its 34-inch scale includes a 38-millimeter TUSQ nut, Schecter vintage open-gear tuning machines, and a Schecter Custom bridge, ensuring tones stay buzz-free and in tune as you make your way around its 12-inch radius and 21-fret array.

Schecter Justin Beck P-4 Signature Bass Features:

  • Signature instrument for Glassjaw’s Justin Beck exemplifies a masterful blend of form and function to conjure the punishing sonics of the band’s post-hardcore tones
  • Swamp ash body anchors profile in a balanced suite of fundamental tones, enduring sustain, and full-spectrum clarity for heavy-hitting yet articulate foundations
  • Hard-rock maple neck and fingerboard imbue your sound with warmth and character that results in clear voicing in every register
  • Fingerboard boasts a 12-inch radius, complementing its treble-side cutaway for unfettered access to its 21 XJ frets and 34-inch scale length
  • Thin “C”-shaped profile accommodates countless playstyles to guarantee speed, comfort, and unwavering control of your sound and style
  • Monstertone-P/-J pickups provide premier Schecter USA engineering for gut-punch power with passive malleability that won’t flake out in high-octane setups
  • Streamlined tone-sculpting comprises a 3-way pickup selector, Master Tone, Master Volume, and a mini toggle that works with the Tone knob’s push-pull design for advanced coil-tap sonics
  • Schecter Vintage Open Gear tuning machines, Schecter Custom bridge, and 38-millimeter TUSQ nut ensure your tones stay buzz-free and in-tune for long-haul stage and studio performances
