The Jupiter’s Return to Semi-hollowbody Form

Boasting a lightweight and resonant chambered genuine mahogany body, the Harmony Jupiter Thinline marks a long-awaited reprisal to the model’s semi-hollow roots. Compared to the modern Jupiter’s solidbody version, this guitar offers a slightly warmer response with a sharper attack and quicker decay — the perfect tonal match for the Jupiter Thinline’s one-two pickup punch of a roaring bridge-position Custom Gold Foil humbucker and a mellow Custom Gold Foil mini humbucker in the neck. Next, a “C” profile mahogany neck, 12-inch-radius rosewood fingerboard, 22 medium-jumbo frets, and locking tuners grant you top-class playability that makes the Jupiter Thinline a joy to play up and down the entire fretboard. Finish it all off with myriad retro-tinged aesthetics — not least of which is a true nitro gloss finish — and this guitar proves that although Harmony’s been around for well over a century, the Jupiter Thinline semi-hollowbody arguably represents the company at its peak of guitar-making prowess.

Two types of ’bucker to choose from

Gold Foil pickups began popping up on student guitars from the likes of Harmony and Teisco in the 1950s and ’60s, then saw a brief resurgence in boutique instruments in the mid-2010s. And just like that, as quickly as they came, they were gone again. But the tone maestros at Harmony never forgot the touch response and retro-good vibes these pickups were all about. That’s why the Harmony Jupiter comes stock with a custom configuration of real-deal Gold Foil pickups, sporting a raunchy full-size humbucker in the bridge and a mellow mini humbucker in the neck position. Hunting after full, rich cleans with a plenty of bass? You’ll love how the neck’s Custom Gold Foil mini humbucker produces a tone that slices straight through humbucker and single-coil territory, giving you a full-bodied sound that never comes across as muddy. In comparison, the bridge-position Custom Gold Foil humbucker’s biting top end and tight lows excel in all manner of dirty applications. However, click off the distortion momentarily, and you’ll be rewarded with a bell-like shimmer straight out of Harmony’s old-school era.

Chambered genuine mahogany body for a rich, airy resonance

Exceedingly lightweight and packed to the brim with rich overtones, the Harmony Jupiter Thinline’s semi-hollow body comes straight out of the original Jupiter playbook. Crafted from genuine mahogany, the body is then chambered out to both reduce the overall weight and add a pleasant bloom and resonance to your every note. Wrapped up with a top-of-the-line thin nitrocellulose finish, the Harmony Jupiter Thinline is more than up to the task of eclipsing any of its department-store forebearers.

A proud new chapter in Harmony's handcrafted American legacy

American-made Harmony guitars have been found in the hands of pro musicians and hobbyists since 1892. The Harmony Jupiter is a welcomed return to form for the American instrument company, combining old-world techniques with more than 125 years of technical know-how to bring today's players a taste of its Kalamazoo heritage. Discover for yourself what great instruments are made of — get your hands on a Harmony electric guitar from Sweetwater.

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Wow

Best guitar I've ever owned. Absolutely incredible value. Couldn't be happier.
Rated 5/5

Excellent Guitar & Incredible Value

I could not be happier with this guitar. The specs and quality of workmanship could hardly be better in just about ANY price range. Makes one wonder why other, presumably larger, guitar makers cannot produce such features and quality control at a $ price point. I cannot find a flaw anywhere on my example, and all the finish work is impeccable. The guitar is super resonant, plays like a dream and the pickups are detailed, with a unique character while still remaining relatively versatile. The only nitpicking criticism I can come up with is that there is some mild-moderate headstock dive due to the combination of a VERY light body and the slightly bulky locking tuners. While the tuners function wonderfully, they do seem like a bit of an odd choice for this style of guitar, and some lighter vintage-style tuners would mitigate the headstock dive, as well as fit the aesthetics of this model better, just imho.

All-in-all though, if you are considering something like this style of guitar I would not hesitate to recommend the Jupiter Thinline. Harmony really outdid themselves with this one!

Best Guitar I Own

I have owned over a dozen guitars, and this is the best one. The bridge pickup being full humbucker and neck being a mini are a combo made in heaven. Nothing too dark or too brittle. Can't explain it. Just buy it.
