Maximum Down-tuned Performance

Slipknot is a band that’s legendary for the full-force intensity of their live performances. While this chaos is great for the audience, it’s not so great for the life of Jim Root’s guitar strings! Dunlop’s Jim Root guitar strings were designed to stand up to the guitarist's sheer sonic onslaught, boasting the absolute highest level of performance, longevity, and tuning stability. When testing these strings out at Sweetwater, we found that they retain a beautiful high-end clarity for a remarkably long time, even with plenty of abuse — an essential quality to ensure that your ground-shaking riffs and blazing solos don’t sound muddy after a handful of gigs. Finally, Jim handpicked the gauges and core sizes for each pack of strings, offering several different combinations to excel when lighting up the fingerboard with different drop tunings.

Dunlop Jim Root Drop A Guitar Strings Features:

  • Designed in collaboration with legendary Slipknot guitarist Jim Root
  • Gauges and cores handpicked to excel in drop A tuning
  • Impeccable tuning stability and performance, even when heavily down tuned
  • Retains high-end clarity, even with heavy abuse
  • Incredibly resistant to breakage
  • String gauges: .012, .016, .020pl, .038, .048, .064

Amazing strings for Drop A!
So, I have a Fender Jim Root Telecaster and JR V4 Jazzmaster. Decided to get these to tune my Tele to Drop A. Wanna play The Heretic Anthem, My Plague, & Psychosocial too!
I'm usually an "Ernie Ball guy." But after putting these strings on my Fender JR Tele, I love them! Great bends on the high strings, great chugging on the lower strings. Honestly, a perfect set, in my opinion, for Drop A tuning!
Definitely gonna get these from now on for my Tele, and will try the JR Drop B strings for my Jazzmaster!
Thanks Sweetwater for the fast shipping!

Excellent
These are fantastic strings - specifically for drop A. I was surprised, because in my experience a plain .20 G string is really difficult to intonate and stay in tune, but these are very stable and intonate well, even on my 24.75 Dean V select. The cores are supposedly larger so the feel is very good, they stay in tune very well, and have great longevity. I'm probably going to try out the Bjorn Gelotte set (12-68) due to the wound G. If I were to change anything on this set, it would change the plain .20 g to a wound .22.
Pretty tight drop A gagues!
I've been searching for a new string brand over Ernie Ball (A Brand I love and use all the time) and I've found I love D'addario NYXLs and the XL series, and me being a huge Slipknot fan I saw these Dunlop strings (and the drop B set), and decided to try these strings and put my ESP LTD TE200 in Drop A running with my EMG 89R in the bridge position, and fell in love instantly. The strings aren't super tight, but also not lose by any means. I find these strings to be a great balance of great tension, and thin enough to bring out a sound in my setup I've never noticed.

I highly recommend these strings to anyone looking for lasting strings, with great tension balance, great tone and feel!
