Reviews

Not worth it

This mouthpiece plays with some of the lowest quality on the market. The material is made of thin brass, and the "silver plating" started flaking off after 3 weeks. The mouthpiece is virtually unplayable below an F down to a low Bb due to an extremely high baffle. The high register is shrill and unpleasant. While the mouthpiece is advertised as "brightest of the other jodyjazz models" it ultimately results in a tinny, poor sounding execution which almost sounds like one is biting the reed. I have tried a variety of reed brands and sizes from vandorens to daddario, and rigotti, rico, however all result in the same production. Additionally, the mouthpiece has a surprising amount of stuffiness if one plays on a dry reed - Even a dry 2.5. With the modern mouthpiece market falling apart, I strongly suggest players who consider themselves to be either pro or intermediate, even a beginning jazz interpreter, to purchase a mouthpiece that is not this model. At this price range, there are many other alternatives for those seeking a brighter sound.
