An Upgraded Geddy Lee Jazz Bass!

Fender's US Geddy Lee Jazz Bass takes three of Geddy's favorite instruments and fuses them into one hot-rodded model. Custom-voiced American Vintage '70s Geddy Lee pickups deliver fat low end and classic J Bass growl. The large profile maple neck has a hand-rubbed oil finish on the back, a 9.5" fretboard radius, and flashy white pearloid block inlays. A Geddy Lee High Mass bridge offers rock-solid tuning stability and intonation. The Fender US Geddy Lee Jazz Bass gives you best of Geddy's personal basses in a single bass that's ready rock.

Geddy's favorite basses in a single instrument

The Fender US Geddy Lee Jazz Bass is a combination of Geddy's favorite aspects of two of his Custom Shop signature models and his original '72 Jazz Bass. From the alder body to the maple neck with a Custom Thick "C" profile to the custom-voiced pickups, you'll love the feel, vibe, and sound of this bass. At Sweetwater we're big fans of the Jazz Bass, and Fender US Geddy Lee Jazz Bass is sure to please even the pickiest of players.

A sonic replica of Rush's classic bass sound

One of the most important changes on the US Geddy Lee Jazz Bass is the addition of Fender custom-voiced American Vintage '70s Geddy Lee pickups. These pickups have been designed to sound just like Geddy's original 1972 Jazz Bass. Fender wound these pickups to give you the punch, mid-range, bass and output you know and love. Perfect for all styles of music, these pickups give you a fat low end, tons of thump, and that iconic Jazz Bass growl.

A neck finish that feels broken in

Players are very particular about many aspects of their instruments, but none more so than the neck. Fender has incorporated a great-feeling hand-rubbed oil finish on the US Geddy Lee Jazz Bass. This finish feels smooth and broken in on the Custom Thick "C" neck profile. The headstock and maple fretboard have a great-looking and durable gloss urethane finish. Once you play the US Geddy Lee Jazz Bass neck finish, you won't be able to go back to anything else.

Fender US Geddy Lee Jazz Bass Electric Bass Guitar Features:

  • Signature bass modeled after Geddy Lee's three favorite instruments
  • Maple neck sports Custom Thick "C" profile and a 9.5" fretboard radius for smooth playing
  • Two custom-voiced American Vintage '70s Geddy Lee pickups deliver classic growl and smooth low end
  • White pearloid block inlays and white binding add a touch of class
  • Geddy Lee High Mass bridge offers killer sustain
  • Includes hardshell case

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

Note: While Certified Open Box items from Fender do not include the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation warranty, you can shop with confidence knowing that this item is backed and covered by Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items

Reviews

Amazing neck and pickups that truly growl!
Everyone knows this bass so I won't go into a lot of detail except to note that if you have the MIJ or MIM don't be put off by the term "thick c" neck, it's not super thick but just beefy enough that I suspect I won't be having to make a lot of adjustment as I did on my older one.

The pickups truly sound exactly as I had hoped as well, they respond perfectly to how hard you play. If you want to play hard and sound like Geddy they will definitely do that but when playing with a lighter touch they are very versatile.

Inlays, binding, pickguard etc... make this a work of art that plays and sounds even better than it looks. Very please with my purchase and big shout out to Jordan and Sweetwater for taking care of me to make sure I was happy as always.

Definitely loving my new Fender USA Geddy Lee Jazz Bass!

Awesome Jazz Bass
I have been looking at the Fender Geddy Lee American jazz bass for a while and since I was in Chicago for work I decided to make another day trip to Sweetwater to check it out in person.. I talked to my sales engineer Mike Soper a couple days before making the trip and he reserved the particular bass I was interested in.. When I arrived at Sweetwater I was assisted by Patrick in the Bass section of the store and he was super helpful and brought the bass I was interested in out for me to check out and it didn't take long to say "I'll take it" this is an amazing bass with both quality workmanship and awesome sound. Sweetwater is #1 Thanks again! I'll be back.
Finally
After years of playing a Rickenbacker and an Alembic I broke down and bought my first Jazz Bass. Well not just any Jazz Bass but the American made Geddy Lee Jazz Bass. Disappointment are you serious there is nothing about this bass that disappoints it’s got everything you could ask for wrapped up in one great playing instrument. The tone the neck the pick ups the bridge cmon what are you waiting for don’t wait as long as I did to finally strap on this Bass. It’s a winner and I was very happy with the service from Sweetwater. I still love my other guitars but this one definitely gets 5 Stars all the way !!!
Best Bass I've ever owned.
Bought my first bass in 81 and I've purchased plenty since then. I think it's safe for me to say that this is by far the best bass that I've ever owned. The sound, playability and looks are second to none. You should get this bass right now before it sells out again, unless it's already sold out, then I recommend you do as I did an order one.
Fender USA Geddy Lee Jazz Bass
I got this today and it is just wonderful. I Had a couple of bad experiences with the USA 1960 Vintage P bass and was about to give up on Fender but im so glad I gave it one more shot. This one is perfect. The Bass resonates in my hands and is very loud unplugged. Plugged in it sounds amazing as well. Very well made, high quality instrument, it sounds so good I hate to put it down. Also, Eric Bothwell is a great sales engineer and I couldn't be happier with the customer service or the bass.

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?
Andrew Davis
As someone who steps back and forth between electric guitar and bass, I couldn't ask for a bass that's easier to switch to than Fender's USA Geddy Lee Jazz Bass. It's the most guitar-like bass I've ever played! The pickups range from smooth and creamy to punchy and aggressive, and the Hi-Mass bridge delivers sustain for days.

It’s impossible to imagine a world without Fender guitars, and if you’re like many of the guitarists at Sweetwater, then Fender not only made the first guitar you ever bought " they made the last one too! From building the first mass-produced solidbody electric guitars and basses in the 1950s to creating some of the most influential amplifier designs in history, it’s no wonder why Fender is one of the biggest names in the business. As one of the world’s largest Fender dealers, we have countless guitars, basses, amps, effects pedals, and accessories in stock and ready to ship, whenever you need them. We’re always getting our hands on their latest creations, and there’s nothing we love more than to tell our customers all about them! So, whether you’re looking for your first axe or a Custom Shop creation, make sure to give your Sweetwater Sales Engineer a call at (800) 222-4700.
