The Iconic J-45 Rosewood's Return

Widely known as Gibson's best-selling acoustic model, the J-45 has reigned as a sonic role model since its arrival in 1942. At it's core, the guitar is based on three ideals: decisive tone, seamless navigation, and epitomizing acoustic comfort. The J-45 Standard Rosewood adheres to these traditional values, albeit with a unique twist — the introduction of a rosewood back and sides for unique boldness and a new audial character. A smooth mahogany neck bearing a traditional compound dovetail joint is topped by a distinct rosewood fretboard adorned by mother-of-pearl inlay details for striking visual appeal and navigation. For the stage, an onboard LR Baggs VTC preamp system delivers at-the-ready projection with stunning authenticity, along with tonal control for convenient sound personalization. It's all topped off with a collection of gold Gibson tuning machines and hardware, corralling the glow of the J-45's vintage roots while administering striking modern acoustic performance.

Rosewood meets the J-45 form factor

The J-45 Standard's back and sides are a deviation from the model's standard mahogany profile, combining unique sonics and comfort for a splendid instrumental result. A Sitka spruce top bears tight, responsive tone with plenty of vibration transfer via hand-scalloped X-bracing. Paired with the rest of the body's rosewood construction, the J-45 produces exceptional clarity and depth with ample amounts of sustain — a perfect sonic recipe for a number of genres and play styles. It's all projected from Gibson's proprietary slope-shoulder dreadnaught formula, supplying exceptional projection for easy play in any studio room or small-event playing environment.

Top-to-bottom tradition

From head to heelstock, the J-45 Standard represents the finest in vintage Gibson detail. The gloss-finished mahogany neck features a compound dovetail joint and slim taper profile, supplying traditional comfort with plenty of access to the guitar's supple rosewood fingerboard. Both a TUSQ nut and saddle ensure excellent string stability and vibration transfer, while Grover Rotomatic tuners provide foundational intonation stability in between sets. Sightly visuals, including antique gold hardware, multi-ply top binding, a reverse belly bridge, and mother-of-pearl inlays, top off the J-45 Standard with all the charm and character that Sweetwater guitarists expect in a vintage-inspired Gibson instrument.

Onboard LR Baggs active electronics system

The J-45 Standard's onboard LR Baggs VTC preamp system supplies more than enough versatility to tackle stage and studio alike. By utilizing a carefully placed under-saddle pickup, the VTC system ensures a clear capture of your instrument's subtleties for an authentic sonic representation in any playing situation. Furthermore, the VTC's built-in dynamic EQ compression system and saturation corral tones match that of the guitar's natural warmth and resonance while expanding the dynamic range with minimal pickup feedback. Finally, the VTC's equipped volume and tone soundhole controls make managing your output a cinch wherever you decide to play.

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!
