Fit and finish: A. Engineering: A. Ease in assembly:A (if you follow the instructions carefully.) Functionality: A. (rock steady holding an RD-800 brick)
Budget about a half hour for assembly. Take your time. You may need to wiggle and giggle the various components in their slots just a bit in order to align the machine screws. Don't force or strip--they WILL align if you get things right. Don't tighten down any of the machine screws until all components are in place and all the screws are started a few turns. Once they are, tighten down until the lock washer is compressed and then give it another 1/4 or 1/2 turn. Don't over-torque the screws--with the lock washers, there's no need. This is a quality stand in every regard. You'll like it. Personally, I only by Ultimate stands--others don't compare. PS: I also own a IQ-3000, which is different than this IQ-X-3000. The only difference is the latter has some plastic trim pieces covering the screws and weld joints. Identical otherwise.

The disk that holds the pin in place to lock the stand is not welded to the frame and slips out of place after a few uses. In order for it to hold I had to tighten the nut to a point that it bent the weak metal. It would be worth buying a bit nicer one even if it cost a bit more.
