Blackstar Enters a Whole New Venue

The Blackstar HT Stage 100 MK III sets a new standard for the company's popular HT Venue series. This 100-watt, 3-channel tube amplifier head contains the full gamut of classic and modern tones, from squeaky clean to raucous overdriven textures. You get two selectable voices on each channel for added flexibility, and each channel boasts a dedicated EQ, which includes Blackstar's patented ISF on the overdrive channels. The HT Stage 100 MK III includes global Presence and Resonance controls for tailoring your overall sound. You'll also appreciate the HT Stage 100 MK III's switchable power reduction, which gives you transparent attenuation down to 10% of the amp's rated power, and a great-sounding digital reverb with two selectable voices. The HT Stage 100 MK III comes with CabRig speaker simulation baked in, giving you access to hundreds of mic and cab combinations, plus a USB-C output for dead-simple recording. This tube-loaded beast also includes an effects loop for straightforward pedalboard integration. Updated boutique styling with vintage-style chicken head knobs and a premium metal logo plate gives the Blackstar HT Stage 100 MK III a bold look to match its expanded feature set.

Three channels of tube-fueled might

No matter what tone you're aiming for, the HT Stage 100 MK III's three channels can nail it. Its clean channel is one of the most flexible we've experienced here at Sweetwater. For starters, its 2-band EQ offers an incredible level of sonic sculpting. What's more, its Voice switch takes it from a high-headroom, American-style chime to a character-filled, Class A-esque warmth that can be pushed into breakup when driven hard. Each of the HT Stage 100 MK III's two overdrive channels includes independent Volume and Gain controls, a shared 3-band EQ, and Blackstar's vaunted Infinite Shape Feature, which carries you from tight, American-style tones to wooly British-style tones and all points in between. Each overdrive channel also includes a Voice switch, enabling you to toggle between classic drive and hot-rodded contemporary distortion.

Loads of top-level features

The Blackstar HT Stage 100 MK III is replete with player-friendly features. A power reduction circuit provides you with solid, transparent attenuation down to 10% of this tube amplifier head's rated power. Its EL34-fueled power section includes Master Volume, Presence, and Resonance controls for dialing in your overall sound. The HT Stage 100 MK III includes a built-in digital reverb with a Dark/Light switch for added sonic versatility. You also get an effects loop with a dedicated level switch for integrating your pedalboard and studio processors. The HT Stage 100 MK III comes with a 2-way foot controller, or you can use an optional 5-way FS-14 foot controller (sold separately) for even more hands-free control over the amplifier's six footswitchable voices.

Cutting-edge cab sims onboard

Thanks to the HT Stage 100 MK III's baked-in CabRig technology, you'll never need to mic a guitar speaker again. This state-of-the-art speaker simulation DSP allows you to choose from hundreds of microphone and cabinet combinations from within Blackstar's easy-to-use Architect software. You can then output your CabRig signal on a 1/4-inch unbalanced or XLR balanced cable or straight to your computer-based recording setup via USB-C.

Awesome Amp especially with ISF Feature.

This app is straight up awesome. The ISF function gives it so much flexibility from American to British. I watched videos where they compared a Mesa rectifier to this particular amp, and there was little to no difference on one of the channels, I believe on one of the distortion channels, this amp is straight up awesome. There's so much flexibility and awesome tone and even the cabinet doesn't sound bad. I have the 212 Blackstar cabinet. I know people really aren't a fan of the 7080s but they really don't sound that bad and have a bad wrap.. I think this is the one of the best amps in the market for the $, there's just so much flexibility with the amp. And the onboard DSP cab simulator sounds phenomenal too. I'm getting really awesome tone from recordings that rival almost DSP's from neural. Usually when I'm recording a tube amp, I will mic the amp and I get wonderful sound & for the first time I've been able to do a line out and have pretty comparable sound quality which is unusual for a DSP on an amp or a cab simulator on an amp especially coming from a tube amp. Straight up five stars. I've been a big fan of these Amps since I was young it reminds me back to a time in my childhood… Straight up/// if you want awesome tone at a awesome price & don't wanna spend $ on a Mesa 100W head this is the amp for you. Just think of Deftones when girls telephone boys tone and you'll get the drift where I'm coming, the tone is that awesome. Straight up five stars and the most underrated amp I think there is probably in this class. Being able to switch from British to American with the EL 34 gives you the sense of having almost 6l6 's just with a unique character shaping particular to amp. I've never seen that before in an amp with this ISF feature! Also, there is no hiss or noise coming from the amp. The bottom and sounds pretty clear too.. my opinion anyways

Good tube amp, okay amp sim

Better than average tube amp, I'd say somewhere in between a Peavey VTM, Randall Diavlo and a Marshall JVM, except there isn't any need for an overdrive pedal, unlike with ALL of those tube amps, which I think is a HUGE plus. However, the Cabrig cabinet simulation is really nothing to write home about, other than the software, which is very good and well laid out, I think a bit like the Two Notes Torpedo interface. As for how the sims sound, again, nothing really spectacular or maybe the cabs and mics just sound a bit too 'dry' sounding for my taste. I wouldn't say dull, just a bit 'flat' and slightly sterile. There also seems to be something about the Cabrig preset consistency, meaning, when turning the amp off for awhile, the Cabrig presets don't really sound exactly the same (yes, I'm a tone junky) possibly because of the amp being a tube/sim hybrid? Not really sure, so I've actually been using a voltage regulator because I'm thinking it has something to do with tubes vs voltage vs the cab/mic sims all competing a bit. Point being, it just doesn't sound as consistent as I'd like from day to day. Again though, I am a bit of a tone freak and still in the process of experimenting, so maybe I'll try some different cables.. or something. My issue mostly has to do with a few high and low frequencies going missing. Tube change maybe? Still not sure. Other than that, as said, I'd say the best feature is you don't need an overdrive pedal because it smokes pretty hard without it. You WILL on the other hand need a good gate, since the low end can get a bit flubby or boomy without it. With a very fast gate though, it sounds pretty tight. The sound you will get is.. dare I say, a bit of a 'one trick pony', without much variation. Probably why the Cabrig was integrated into it? Lastly, I'll close by saying I think my tone issue has to do with this amp being a hybrid, so the real trick for me will be getting consistency from day to day. If you're not extremely fussy about tone though, you shouldn't have any major issues. Do tubes and digital sims really mix all that well? Still not sure, even after years of my own research. Maybe I just need a reeeally good or shorter guitar cable? Remains to be seen or heard ! Only time will tell..
