A Topmount Rack Case Made for Easy Transport!

The SKB-R1400 Gig Safe is a part of a multiple section rolling rackmount system that will fit in the back of your car. Featuring a 14U+ top rackmount that will accommodate deeper analog and digital mixers, and a cover designed to fit over installed XLR cable connectors (top to rear mounted). The SKB-R1400 Gig Safe will attach to the SKB19-REX6 Expander case and the SKB-3224 Rotomolded GigDolly to give the same convenience and rack spaces as the SKB19-R1406 Mighty GigRig - only in multiple sections for transporting.

needs a back rack panel

This is a nice unit, it holds a 14u mixer quite nicely (in this case a Yamaha TF-1 with rack ears attached).

The one thing I could wish for, is space for some rack panels on the back. Like, 2U would be adequate probably.

As it is, I did it myself, I cut out part of the back of the bottom of the case, with a MotoTool, and mounted two 1U panels so I don't have to connect and disconnect the mixer all the time. I used D-series XLR rack blanks, which can hold all the required PowerCon, EtherCon, and USB connections in addition to the audio.

The only other bad thing about this case is it doesn't lock into the REX6 gig expander, you have to be careful when it's sitting on top. It does lock in when the REX6 cover is off (at a gig when it's being used), but it doesn't lock in when the REX6 cover is on, like when it's in your driveway waiting for the truck. I put a little velcro on the bottom of the case. it does help, but you still need to be careful.

Other than that, this is a very good case. SKB makes a good product, I'm very happy with it, it's nice and sturdy and protects my expensive digital mixer very nicely.
