What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Lean and mean

I had been carrying a Hammond SK2 for our gigs. I love the keyboard but it's just too heavy . I bought the 61 key Roland Go Piano to see if I could lighten my load . At 8.5 lbs, weight wise , it was perfect. Takes up less space in my truck. The real test was sound quality. Through my system , I got better pianos than the Hammond and a couple of good organs. I added a pedal for the leslie effect, perfect. The electronic pianos a really good also, overall , I highly recommend this place of gear!!
Music background: I have been playing since the age of 5, I’m 64 now and have a full production company as well as playing live.

Nice little piano

I've played for many years, Steinway to Casio. I wanted a light-weight, portable platform to practice piano and melodica with a backing track, on headphones. The biggest selling feature was built-in Bluetooth. I can play a backing track on the keyboard from my phone or laptop and have my own personal orchestra all day long. I can transpose up or down to match a particular backing track, and even do key changes mid-song. The "touch" function buttons work great for me, no issues. I use "lightest" on the touch-sensitivity setting, and about "5" on the reverb. The weighted, half-weighted keys discussion is a non-issue. The Roland's feel great. I learned classical piano on a Hammond organ in the 60's. Keyboards, pianos all feel different, anyway. A beginner could easily learn piano on this Roland. Add a sustain pedal for best sound.

It is even perfect for pros.

I have many hardware synths and midi keyboards at my home. But this instrument is truly amazing if the mobility is your concern. I use it with Logic Pro x and MainStage especially with keyscape. If you set up key sensitivity correctly, results are perfect. The main advantage of this keyboard over midi controllers is Bluetooth midi connection and power by 6 aa batteries. You don't need to hassle with usb cables. Bluetooth midi latency is minimum on M1 chip MacBooks. (I think it is software issue however there is no problem with intel based MacBooks).thanks Roland.

Best action for un-weighted keys.

I know this is targeted at beginners but it serves my purposes as a professional very well. I've been on tour bus playing for various singers since 1995 and I've had all kinds of keyboards. I've had my stage keyboards, and I've always had what I call a hotel keyboard. This is the lightweight, 61 key, at least 3 decent sounds keyboard that I would use to write, practice or just jam with a few other players. The Roland Go Piano 61 fills this role beautifully. And lately I've been getting back to some sheet-music-reading with an app on my iPad. The Roland can send MIDI over bluetooth so this works well with apps and… no wires! The best thing about this board, however, is the attention they paid to the shape of the keys. This contributes greatly to my perception of the action. I think it feels great for being an 8 pound unweighted board. I love playing it! It also has a better-than-average quality power supply. The cord is thicker than I have seen before and the end plugs in nice and tight. It's made to last. I use the batteries mostly though. 6 AA batteries. Not a lot of weight too carry around and they last long time. I did have some glitchy issues with the Roland software app that goes with it. It crashes at times and I don't see a lot of use for it for me. But I'm using it with Piano Marvel and it works great with that. Side-note: . I'm using my Nord Electro 4D (61 keys) on the road and so it's in a hard case…. The Roland fits perfectly in the Nord soft-case. The speakers are just fine. The sounds are perfect for what I need. I just need a few solid piano sounds, and few solid electric piano sounds. This checks those boxes. It has a few other sounds that I really don't need. I'm sure you can find a YouTube demo of the sounds. But don't buy it for the sounds. Buy it for the action and the portability. As for the target audience (beginners) it is a great option. It has some built-in lessons of some kind but I have not explored these. It might be a little pricey for some moms and dads wondering if they should buy it for their child. Also, for not much more, you can get a weighted Yamaha. But for what I needed, the Roland Go Piano 61 is perfect. Thank you Delvin Wolf for your continued great service.

Very happy!

I recently bought a Roland Go Piano from Sweetwater.com and had the best service I ever had with purchases online. I got several calls from customer service (I think his name was Mike). He was very pleasant and legitimately concerned with my satisfaction and to make sure that I knew the approximate date of delivery and told me he was ready to answer any questions I might have. The instrument arrived very well packed and with a little bag of candies, which was a nice touch. Thanks Sweetwater!

Simply put, modern electronic music wouldn't exist without Roland. Many of the electronic musicians here at Sweetwater cut our teeth on TR Rhythm machines and fondly remember programming our first TB-303s. We owe a good part of our careers to this amazing and innovative company. It's been fun to watch and grow right alongside Roland, as they've introduced wave after wave of revolutionary keyboards, digital pianos, and more. For example, Roland's V-Drum Kits continuously redefine the possibilities of electronic drums, beginning with SuperNATURAL technology to the latest Prismatic Sound Modeling. We're huge fans, and we'd love to tell you all about them. Whether you want a pocket-sized synth or a cutting-edge video mixer, if Roland makes it, then Sweetwater is 100% behind it.
