One of Guild's Original Designs

This Guild M-20 6-string acoustic guitar marks Guild's return to the US-made model that was the first to roll off the company's Westerly, Rhode Island, factory line in 1967. This stripped-down guitar boasts a top, back, and sides constructed of solid mahogany. The M-20's concert body style's compact dimensions ensure that it's very comfortable to play and sings with a midrange-focused tone that is marvelous for strumming or fingerstyle playing. The Guild M-20 6-string acoustic guitar offers vintage-style looks, feel, and tone.

One of Guild's first acoustic guitars

The Guild M-20 6-string acoustic guitar is a modern version of the very first model to ever be produced by Guild's Westerly, Rhode Island, factory in 1967. And it appropriately coincides with the reintroduction of US-manufactured instruments for Guild Guitars. Even many of the materials and machines used in the crafting of the M-20 acoustic guitars came from the original Westerly factory and were responsible for many of the company's earlier models. Sweetwater is proud to offer you this piece of Guild's history.

Straightforward mahogany construction

The M-20's neck, top, back, and sides are constructed entirely from solid mahogany. This tonewood was chosen for its centered tone that exudes warmth without ever becoming muddy, and clarity that never sounds shrill. The rosewood fretboard and bridge further help to enhance the guitar's harmonic overtones, and the M-20's appearance is as warm and inviting as its tone. Minimal aesthetic appointments give the instrument a vintage look that works as beautifully onstage as it does around a campfire.

Comfortable concert body

Smaller-bodied acoustic guitars such as this Guild M-20 have been a popular option among players since the dawn of the instrument. Its concert-style body in particular is a favorite for this midrange-focused tone that helps each note come through loud and clear. This makes the M-20 a wonderful option for fingerstyle players and flatpickers alike. And the guitar's smaller dimensions are very comfortable for the performing guitarist that needs to have the M-20 slung over a shoulder all night long.

Guild M-20 6-string Acoustic Guitar Features:

  • 6-string acoustic guitar built to vintage Guild specs
  • All-mahogany construction offers a warm, balanced tone
  • Thin satin finish lets the wood vibrate freely
  • Minimal aesthetic appointments offer a vintage appearance
  • Concert body style is comfortable and even sounding

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

The Amazing Guild M-20!!!

First and foremost the new Guild M-20, Vintage Sunburst, is beyond amazing. The look of the vintage sunburst is gorgeous and the satin finish is beautiful. I was searching for a small body guitar for fingerpicking Blues, Folk and the American Primitive. The body dimensions of this guitar, slightly larger than a parlor but smaller than a 00, are perfect and comfortable. The 1 & 3/4 neck and 12" radius are extremely comfortable for fretting notes and fingering. The neck is smooth and easy to play. The all mahogany body is warm, woody, earthy and deep. The sound is gorgeous and the sustain is great as well. The M-20 can handle open tunings and is very easy to record as the overtones and bass are not overbearing.

The search was long but for what I was looking for both sonically, all mahogany, and size, the M-20 is perfect. I changed the strings to Elixir 80/20 polyweb as it brightened the sound a bit with a bit less string squeak. Nothing wrong with the phosphorous bronze but I prefer 80/20 for a more vintage sound and feel.

I named my M-20 Strega, which is Italian for witch. The sound of the M-20 is truly bewitching.

The M-20 is Fantastic!

I've been wanting a small-bodied acoustic for a while, and my dream was to own an M-20, the "Nick Drake" guitar. This guitar is American made, and very well built. It sounds and looks amazing. The body size is perfect for recording, allowing excellent control over the low end.

Special guitar

This is a special instrument but it probably should not be your only acoustic guitar. First, I hear it for personal, not public, use. At concert size, it can't compete with a dreadnought for volume or projection so it's not likely of much use in most live performance situations. It's an intimate experience cradling this in your arms. It whispers or hums to you rather than roars. Finger picking on this is a quiet marvel. Second, its warm, glowing tone isn't for everybody. If you want to get loud, don't bother. But if you want to hear the inside of your head, the sound your soul makes at rest, this is the thing.

Huge Sound From A Small Guitar

Really was not expecting this much from a small bodied guitar, but the M20 sounds HUGE for its size. Wonderful all around Acoustic that will be my go to guitar more often than not.

Amazing guitar. Versatile and easy to play. Wonderful sound.

My Guild M-20 Vintage Sunburst is incredible. The build and finish is impeccable. The neck is comfortable, the action is low, and the intonation is spot on. The M-20 handles all playing styles, from fingerstyle, flatpicking, to strumming with or without a pick. It has a wonderful sound. I like the size of this guitar. It is very easy to hold and play. I'm fond of fancy binding and "bling" on guitars, whether acoustic or electric. The M-20 has neither and that works well. It is a beautiful guitar in its simplicity. The vintage sunburst is well done and I like the slight spot in the grain. It gives the guitar character! MY M-20 IS A JOY TO PLAY. That's the bottomline. I highly recommend it.
