A New Level of Tonal Flexibility from Bogner

The incredibly flexible Goldfinger Superlead head sounds absolutely fantastic. Its ability to attain thick and rich tones at any volume make the head perfect for tracking, rehearsals, or onstage. Best of all, Bogner built in a bevy of features that let you pull an incredible range of tones out of the GF45-SL. You'll find pre- and post-effects loops, the dirty channel boasts a 3-way gain character switch, and each of the two channels features its own tube-driven boosts. The GF45-SL Goldfinger Superlead is an amazing tone machine that makes your guitar sing.

45 watts of 6V6 tone

The Bogner GF45-SL Goldfinger Superlead amp head captures its 45 watts of all-tube power from a quartet of 6V6 power tubes. Known for their ability to harmonically overdrive while also cleaning up into a bell-like chime, the 6V6 tubes are an ideal platform for such a flexible amplifier. In fact, 6V6 tubes are extremely popular among Sweetwater guitarists for their capacity to work great in almost any style or genre of playing.

Alpha clean and Omega drive channels

To get the most from the Goldfinger Superlead's 6V6 tubes, Reinhold Bogner crafted the amplifier with two channels dubbed Alpha and Omega. The Alpha channel is the cleaner of the two, effortlessly swinging between the glassy highs that characterize its tubes to a vintage crunch with just the right amount of give. Switching over to the Omega channel brings on more gain. And with a 3-way gain switch, you're able to dial in the feel, headroom, and drive to taste. Between these two channels, the Bogner GF45-SL Goldfinger Superlead is ready for whatever you throw at it.

Supreme flexibility

The Goldfinger line of amplifiers is designed to offer enough tone-shaping options to always deliver the perfect tone. And the GF45-SL is a prime example of that goal. Around back you'll find both pre- and post-effects loops that place your drives, modulation, and time-based effects in the optimal place along your signal chain. The onboard spring reverb is perfect for adding a bit of ambience to your up-front tones. And each channel also boasts carefully tuned loudness controls, bright switches, and tube-driven boosts for nailing your sound.

Bogner GF45-SL Goldfinger Superlead 45-watt Tube Guitar Amplifier Head Features:

  • 45-watt, 2-channel tube amplifier
  • 4 x 6V6 tube power amp section
  • Dual variable Boosts
  • Pre FX-Loop places your front-end effects safely in an un-buffered loop
  • Post-FX loop individually footswitchable for each channel
  • Footswitch-controllable spring reverb
  • Alpha channel includes bass, middle, treble, gain, and loudness controls; pre- and post-bright switches
  • Omega channel includes bass, middle, treble, gain EQ, and loudness controls, 3-way gain voicing switch

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

The one!

If your looking for a Swiss Army knife to covering your all around vintage tone from that 6V6 warm woody fender sound to the 3 iconic Marshall sound most crave, then look no further. Yeah it's pricey but price a jtm45, Original JMP from the 70's or JCM800 and you'll probably see what I mean. Great unique features and tone tone tone. My JVM is taking break now.

Wow

I thought I had owned or tried a good chunk of the "best" amps out there, but I took a gamble on this and here I am 5 months later just absolutely blown away. This amp is still a bit of a "secret" as there is not a whole lot out there about them, but this is an absolute game changer. Typically, versatility is balanced with an inability to really do any particular tone VERY well, but not in this case. You're essentially getting a history of guitar amps in one box, each of the 4 amps (blackface, plexi, 2204, modded) are done so well and are inspiring in their own right. I'm inspired every time I plug in, and this little beast has the tools to fit whatever style you're feeling on any particular day with ease and sincerity. 98% of the time, I don't even have any pedals plugged in- the onboard reverb, boosts, and EQ controls and switches provide everything I need to get lost in my guitar- and that's the whole point. While I loved the Helios, 20th Shiva, Uberschall, Telos, and XTC 3534, this GL SL is the one for me.

Holy Grail? Holy Cow!

This is an amazing amp. The more I use it, the more I'm discovering how versatile and incredible it is! The overdrive (Omega) channel delivers a wealth of tonal options, and I'm pleasantly surprised at how smooth or gritty the distortion is depending on how the controls are set. The three voice options also make this channel incredibly versatile. The four JJ 6V6 tubes (Slovakia) have a higher plate voltage than other 6V6s and I suspect this also contributes to the channel's bold tonal characteristics.

The clean (Alpha) channel is the best I've ever heard/owned. None of my other amps deliver such a magical, ephemeral clean tone! My two Mesa amps & Soldano amp are great in their own right, but the Bogner GL45 has a clean tone that is dream-like; especially paired with Strymon Cloudburst & Keeley Halo pedals.

At first, I hesitated to buy this amp as I thought it looked a bit odd, but I'm thrilled I did. As they say, don't judge the book by the cover! However, I would like to see a Bogner website & customer support. (which explains my 4.5 Star rating & not 5-Star). I'm reading rumors online that it's forthcoming. I hope so. Reinhold Bogner is a genius. Ausgezeichnet.

owned the original 45, now own the SL

So first thing is that the clean channel (Alpha) on the original 45 and the newer Super Lead version is fantastic, the best clean I've plugged into. The prices I see used original 45 versions go for are worth it for the clean channel alone (seriously). The gain channel in the original version always made me feel like I wanted a bit more, especially in the 69 mode. I had always read the the SL version (which is what Bogner now makes) was a pretty significant upgrade. I totally agree. It's not just more gain, but to me the overall gain tones are different and more easily sculpted. The Gain Eq knob has, to me, more range in the SL and I liken it to blending the two inputs on a 1959/1987 style circuit.

Between the 60's and 70's mode, I have all the gain I could ever want and more than I'd ever use, but the 80' mode is a lot of fun as well. The Omega channel has all of the standard eq options (TMB) but you also have an overall Presence knob, Gain Eq, a boost that has gain and volume controls, and a Deep Switch. With all of these tone options I can dial in a very wide range of "M" style tones, much more than I could do with the original 45 version. Does is nail all of those classic tones? I can't say that, I'd hate to misrepresent an expensive piece of gear, but I will say that it sounds absolutely fantastic if you're into those classic "M" tones (59/87 and 2203/04).

Already mentioned the clean channel, but I'll say it again; both versions are stellar. I personally love the onboard reverb, it has a much more gradual sweep than any of my BF amps. Both channels have separate boosts and the amp can be run in four different power modes. Great sounding fx loop as well. And it feels like it's built like a tank. All in all, for me, it is the perfect gigging amp for someone who is looking for a beautiful clean channel and (I'll just say it) "Marshall" style gain on the second channel.

I'm surprised that there aren't more of these out in the wild, so I consider still a bit of sleeper amp.

What a great amp!!!

This amp is a beast. It's not only visually beautiful but it has two channels, one is clean and the other channel which is the gain channel has 3 options. 68, 77 and 81 a nod to Marshall obviously. Each channel sounds great and there's so many options on this amp. There's presence, there's reverb, you don't need them but it takes pedals beautifully and there's several different wattages. So apt dwellers can enjoy as well. The feel is great too. Options for that too. And boost. High and low etc etc.
