Falcon Gets the Center Block!

The demands of pro guitarists everywhere helped design Gretsch's G6636T Player's Edition Falcon semi-hollowbody electric guitar without them even knowing it. This Falcon sounds just like the full-bodied classic you love, but has a smaller, lighter, more comfortable 16" body with a chambered spruce center block. Modern features like no-load tone pots and locking tuners offer great versatility onstage and in the studio. And the Players Edition Falcon's striking appearance, High-Sensitive Filter'Tron humbucker tone, and haunting Bigsby vibrato make the G6636T Players Edition Falcon a staple for rockabilly twang and classic rock 'n' roll bite.

Chambered spruce center block enhances your sound

You get a lot of tonal bang for your buck with the Gretsch G6636T, thanks to its long spruce center block. Running the full length of the body, this chambered center block allows the otherwise hollow body to resist resonant-frequency feedback. That means you can rock out louder with more gain, without your amplifier squealing out of control. Spruce is a snappy tonewood too, and since the center block connects with the bridge, the note definition, clarity, and sustain on the G6636T are amazing.

No-load pots won't color your sound

Guitarists who avoid a buffered-bypass pedal or cables over 15 feet long will love Gretsch's new no-load tone pots. The pots' design allows them to be completely bypassed from your G6636T's circuit when run wide open. You'll notice a stronger signal with more high-end clarity. And these tone pots use Gretsch's Squeezebox paper-in-oil capacitors for a wider tonal landscape between settings 0 and 10 that's easy to fine-tune with a roll of the knob.

Lower-set neck for a more comfortable feel

We've played a lot of guitars here at Sweetwater, and we know that not all players are comfortable with the "traditional" Gretsch feel. Gretsch knows this too, which is why they've set the neck lower on the G6636T for greater playing comfort. If some Gretsch semi-hollowbody guitars feel cumbersome to you, get your hands on the G6636T — it was made just for you.

Gretsch's G6636T Player's Edition Falcon Features:

  • Semi-hollow thinline Gretsch Falcon
  • Smaller 16" body with sparkle binding
  • Chambered spruce center block enhances your sound
  • Gretsch High-Sensitive Filter'Tron humbuckers deliver classic bark and bite
  • Treble bleed circuit and no-load tone controls for greater sonic clarity and detail
  • Premium electronics include "Squeezebox" paper-in-oil capacitors
  • Ebony fretboard with 12" radius plays fast and smooth
  • String-through Bigsby B7GP vibrato adds expressive textures
  • Grover Imperial locking tuners

A dream guitar that is a dream to live with

I bought this guitar 3 years ago in 2020 because I believed it was the best suited and a beautiful guitar for playing all kinds of P&W music. I've dragged this thing back and forth to church 50x times a year for practice and playing. It's dead reliable, predicatable, GORGEOUS, and a joy to play every time I pick it up. I'm very cheap, but I saved my coins to buy this stunner. NO DISAPPOINTMENTS. If you look at who uses Falcons with Filtertrons, and want to sound more like them- you will not be disappointed...

Fantastic Falcon!

I purchased this guitar about 6 months ago. I wanted plenty of time to give an accurate review. This is my first Gretsch guitar. This guitar is very well made and beautiful visually and tonally. I am 100% happy with it. I primarily play worship music but also play country, classic rock, and blues. This guitar can do it all and it is sonically somewhere between my R8 Les Paul and my Fender guitars. I would like to mention that I play 11's and this guitar sounds amazing with them. I personally have zero issues with overtones behind the bridge. You cannot hear them when plugged in. I also upgraded the bridge to a tune-o-matic style with roller saddles. The stock bridge was totally fine, I just wanted to make the least amount of friction possible. With all the modern updates like the locking tuners and bigsby, this guitar holds tune great for a tremolo guitar! The only small issue I have with it is that the heel is rather large at the base of the neck. I am assuming this is common with Gretsch guitars. Just know that it is tougher than a Les Paul to access the really high frets. Frets 20-22. Not a deal breaker for me but I wanted to be totally honest on this review. This guitar exceeded my expectations and I hope this review helps you decide to buy one! Thank you Sweetwater!

Too much overtones and Ringing Feedback

I have wanted this guitar all my life but I didn't expect it to have an issue considering how pricey it is. I got this guitar for the first time and I was in awe of its beauty, the craftsmanship and every detail of this guitar is worth what you pay for. Gretsch really listened to all the players by having a string through Bigsby and a fixed bridge.

The only downside of this guitar are the overtones. You will hear harmonic ringing and sometimes off key sounds especially on the strings B and E. If you play clean, maybe on a worship set, I think this guitar is not for you, your congregation might be distracted of its ringing feedback and overtone on this guitar. But if you like rock and can palm mute your strings, maybe this guitar will work. Sweatwater have been so awesome to help me and make sure I was satisfied by sending another 6636T, but I still get the same problem. This guitar is a DIVA and I was not able to handle her issue.
