Thomas "TV" Jones has been making waves in the world of pickups for over 25 years, and Brian Setzer was one of his earliest fans. The signature Filter'Trons in the G6120T were actually chosen by Setzer in a blind test that Gretsch put him through years ago. As he tried one after another, he kept coming back to the tone of one particular G6120T. Setzer was blown away by how clean it sounded when fingerpicked without having to change any settings on his amp. He also noticed that when he switched back to flatpicking this G6120T, the tone reverted to a grittier sound — again with no changes in his amp settings. When Setzer asked about the difference between this particular model over the other G6120T guitars, the answer was TV Jones. He was sold. And from that day forward, Setzer has played TV Jones–designed Filter'Trons to get his legendary tone. The maple neck with ebony fingerboard on the G6120T is cut to a Vintage "V" profile that invites fast lead runs and comfortable chording up and down the neck.
