This Double-Cut Semi Exudes Classic Gretsch Style

For a double-cutaway semi-hollowbody that’s teeming with classic Gretsch styling, look no further than the G5622 Electromatic. This handsome electric guitar delivers a shimmering sparkle — and that’s before you even plug it in! Amplified, the G5622 exhibits a balanced sound, thanks to its Black Top Broad’Tron humbuckers, while a weight-relieved center block provides feedback-free performance — even under high gain. You’ll appreciate the comfortable playability of this semi’s "U"-shaped neck, and its anchored Adjusto-matic, Gretsch V-Stoptail tailpiece serves up all the sustain you could ever want. Make no mistake, the Gretsch G5622 Electromatic is a surefire way to chase the vintage hollowbody tones you’ve always craved.

Laminated maple body provides excellent tonal definition

Maple is one of the most lively, bright, and colorful tonewoods out there, which is exactly why Gretsch decided to make their G5622 Electromatic almost entirely out of this wonderful wood. This semi-hollowbody’s laminated body yields a wonderfully snappy, open tone that — when combined with the balanced character of its Black Top Broad’Tron pickups — cuts through a dense mix and sounds great in any situation.

Long spruce center block delivers feedback-free hollowbody tone

Thanks to its long spruce center block, you get a lot of tonal bang for your buck with the Gretsch G5622 Electromatic. Running the full length of the body, the center block allows the otherwise hollow body to resist resonant-frequency feedback. At Sweetwater, we’ve found that this weight-relieved center block lets us rock out louder, with more gain, without our amplifier squealing out of control. Plus, spruce is a snappy tonewood, and since the center block connects with the bridge, the note definition, clarity, and sustain on the Electromatic are amazing.

Three volume controls, one tone control: exceptional sonic flexibility

It’s easy to stereotype the Gretsch G5622 Electromatic until you play it, and then you realize just how versatile it is. With a volume control for each pickup, you can create your perfect balance between warmth, bite, and brilliance when both pickups are engaged. The master tone control lets you fine-tune your sound once you’ve got the pickups dialed in. And thanks to the master volume control, you can take your tube amp from clean to growling without changing the balance between your pickups. Of course, you’ll get sweet tone from the neck and bridge pickups individually, but there’s a lot of territory to cover when you combine them.

Gretsch G5622 Electromatic Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Double-cutaway semi-hollowbody electric guitar with classic Gretsch styling
  • Laminated maple body delivers an incredibly snappy, open tone
  • Broad’Tron pickups balance out your tone beautifully
  • Weight-relieved spruce center block yields feedback-free hollowbody tone
  • Highly playable thin "U"-shaped maple neck with laurel fingerboard
  • 3 volume controls and 1 tone control create exceptional sonic flexibility
  • Anchored Adjusto-matic, Gretsch V-Stoptail tailpiece provides ample sustain

Great guitar

This is the fourth Gretsch guitar that I have owned. It plays extremely well and right out of the box. It is beautiful to look at and it sounds amazing. It is not heavy nor does it feel or look cheap. It is exactly what a Gretsch guitar should be, quality and tone that kills.
Music background: I have been playing guitar for over 60 years.

Suits me!

Home enthusiast here. I play for enjoyment and relaxation. I don't have a big budget nor a poser syndrome. This guitar was what I was looking for. I can't put it down!

Beyond my expectations !

I always wanted a Gretsch guitar even when I was younger. Most of the ones I had seen years ago were out of my price range. This guitar wasn't expensive but it sure plays like one. The looks and quality will really surprise you. The V-Stoptail allows me to see more of the body and its Aged Walnut look. It's actually a light but sturdy guitar and the neck plays comfortably. This would be a great guitar for any level player who is interested in a quality instrument. Sweetwater was a great help in deciding on this guitar and I appreciate it. I always use bag cases for my other guitars except this one. After receiving this Gretsch I'm glad I ordered a Gator GWJM335 Semi-Hollow Electrics Deluxe Wood Case.

Don't hesitate

I was looking at the Epiphone 335 and then I stumbled across this one. Bought it and couldn't of been happier. Once I put tens on and got the bridge where I like stellar. The pups are very p90 sounding. Clean with a little jangle. They all handle od and distortion like a champ. Very comfy neck but you are limited to the 15th fret. It's a player and I think it really makes the 335 look not that great.
Music background: Been playing something for 50 years.
