All-koa Undersized Acoustic from Washburn

Part of Washburn's renowned Comfort series, the G-55 Mini acoustic guitar is not only comfortable, but it also presents stunning stage-ready design. This all-koa acoustic guitar features the natural, unique grain pattern of koa with its varied striped pattern in lush dark reds and browns. This Hawaiian tonewood is legendary for its smooth, even midrange bloom and blend of punchy treble and robust low end. And best of all, this lightweight, rigid tonewood only gets better with age. The more you play the G-55, the more it will open up with a richly complex tonal palette. Take it from us here at Sweetwater: you will have a hard time putting down the G-55 thanks to its contoured, rounded lower bout that lets your arm rest evenly and comfortably while you play.

Designed for comfort and tone

The G-55 Mini is actually a 7/8th-size Grand Auditorium acoustic — a body design known for its big volume and robust projection. The undersized design of this incredible acoustic is ideal for players at any level, but emerging players and those with smaller hands will love not only the smaller body design but also the 23-1/4-inch scale length. The smooth ebony fingerboard and smaller scale length are ideal for fingerpicking styles. A Washburn "Comfort Carve-Away" also lets you access those harder-to-reach higher notes up the neck. What's more, many recording engineers will tell you that the smaller Grand Auditorium design of the G-55 makes for incredible recording sessions. Plop a mid-level condenser or ribbon mic in front of the G-55 and capture some incredibly pure, even tone without the boom and bang of larger acoustics!

Genuine Bargain

It sounds beautiful, the neck is very playable, it looks gorgeous and it really is comfortable. Fit and finish appear to be excellent and the gig bag is of similar quality to Martin or Taylor. With that said, I repeat "it sounds beautiful, it looks gorgeous." For the price this is a "Genuine Bargain"

I Own 2

Don't expect a Dreadnought. I installed magnetic pickups in BOTH and have what I needed. These are beautiful and play amazing.

Reminds me of an Alvarez.

Some things that make this guitar unique are: the strings are closer together than on a regular guitar, there is less space between the frets. Okay so the strings that came on this guitar where absolute trash. I replaced them with martin so medium strings. This guitar loves medium strings. I changed the strings out without even having to adjust the truss rod. The action was low out of the box and the construction of the guitar was superb. The sound of this guitar reminds me of my ukulele. They are both probably made from the same type of wood. Strong middle with balanced low and treble tones. The guitar sounds kinda boxy but projects very well. The tone is not subdued like my martin 000 junior but then again I have extra light strings on the martin. I got this guitar b/c my martin is so sensitive that I cannot play it as much or as hard as I want. The cut away scoop is a nice feature along with the beveled arm rest area make this guitar look unique and also make it very comfortable to play. There is no second strap button so I will have to get one put on it. Also the intonation was off. The intonation was also off on my martin so I was not shocked by it. The sound that you get from this guitar reminds me of my old Yamaha or an regular Alvarez guitar. Very strong middle I know I have said it twice but vids don't really give you any idea of how the guitar will sound. Also the sound hole is 3 and 1/4 inches wide so basically no sound hole pickup will fit it. That's about it.

It did not work out!

I really wanted this guitar to work. I liked the size for a traveling guitar. Sadly the strings were buzzing and I cannot stand that. I tried to adjust the neck but I did not get much better. The neck looked twisted. One side looked straight but the other side looked like it had a bow. I may have gotten a bad copy. It comes with a nice bag.

I had to return it because it did not meet my expectations.
