Enjoy Easy Parlor Playability with Classic Gretsch Charm

Even before you play it, you'll be inclined to agree: this Gretsch G5021E Rancher Penguin Parlor is a real looker. And when you play it, you'll be greeted with a direct, punchy tone with excellent note separation and great headroom. The parlor body style is a comfortable alternative to larger body styles while offering a rich voice, and delivers fantastic playability whether you play with a pick or fingerstyle. And while the Gretsch G5021E Rancher Penguin Parlor's smaller size makes it the perfect backyard or campfire guitar, its quality Fishman Presys III electronics ensure that it's a top performer onstage, too.

Distinctive look, classic sound

This G5021E Rancher Penguin Parlor catches attention whether it's heard or seen first. Its distinctive triangular soundhole maintains the look of original '50s Rancher guitars, and you'll love how it enhances the already rich sound. You also get a unique finish, gold hardware, and a vertical wing headstock logo that are sure to turn heads.

Fishman electronics for sweet plugged-in tone

The Gretsch G5021E Rancher Penguin Parlor is equipped with Fishman Presys III electronics. Plug in, and you'll experience this acoustic-electric guitar's natural timbre without any coloration or distortion. Shape your sound with Volume, Bass, and Mid-Sweep controls. If you perform solo, then you'll really appreciate the Mid-Sweep control — it dials back clashing frequencies, allowing your vocals to fill the gap. You'll also benefit from its built-in chromatic tuner.

A piece of Gretsch guitar history

While most of the Gretsch guitars you see at Sweetwater are hollowbody electric guitars, Gretsch has been producing top-notch acoustic guitars longer than most of us have been alive. The G5021E Rancher Penguin Parlor pays homage to the distinctive Rancher guitars from the early '50s, retaining their iconic triangular soundhole and priced so that anyone can enjoy this piece of Gretsch history. Whether you're a performing artist or you just want a great vacation guitar, you'll love the classic vibe you get from this G5021E Rancher Penguin Parlor.

Small guitar, big attitude

I was looking for a parlor sized acoustic just to have around the house. It was between this Gretsch and the PRS SE. Ultimately, the attention to detail like the gold glitter binding and the traditional Gretsch thumbnail inlays are what drew me to this guitar.
There are some fantastic demos on YouTube, which also influenced my choice.
This guitar is a little larger than I expected, but it's a very comfortable instrument to play. I think it sounds fantastic.

Black penguin

Great looking guitar. Nice sound. Have white falcon g5022 and this guitar does not seem as bright. May need setup and change of strings.
Rated 4.5/5

Great looks, comfortable size, good tone

I've wanted a Gretsch Rancher for some time (I especially like the pick shaped sound hole). I have several dreadnaught sized guitars so when I saw this it was the perfect option. The guitar looks great, plays well and has a well balanced sound. The electronics are decent for this price category. It's not as full or loud as a larger guitar but I like it for casual playing & recording at home. I chose the black model but the other color options are nice.

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?

Kelly Cagle

As a gigging musician, I’ve been playing acoustic sets for over a decade now. Whenever I’m playing out, I want my acoustic guitar to stand out, feel comfortable, and obviously sound good. That's exactly what my Gretsch Rancher Penguin Parlor does. With a vintage '50s style, the stunning finish, and gold accents it catches the crowd's eye, but it sings out so full, you’d never think it's a smaller guitar. The smaller body makes it a very comfortable guitar for me, and the Fishman Presys III pickups make it possible for me to take it to any gig.
