Awesome

I upgrade the ceramic stock speaker (G10F-15) in my JTM1C, Marshall 50th Anniversary 1 watt amp with an Alnico G10 Gold (sold to me by Sweetwater - awesome customer service). NOTE: Give this speaker time to break in so don't judge it when it's brand new - it REALLY improves with usage. The stock speaker was flubby and broke-up early when turning the volume up. This speaker improved the headroom of my amp - so now distortion comes on at a later stage when increasing the volume. This speaker has a nice, fat, rich distortion as well and outstanding clean tone qualities, It didn't change the flavor of the amp - it just opened it up. I'll add that the lows that are quite low, but don't stand out from mid's and trebles. It all blends beautifully.

Worth the Money

I've played Celestions for years and years - all types. Jensens, and Eminence too. Many are very very good speakers. However none of them sound like the Gold. It's just on a whole new level. I have single 12" open and closed back cabs for playing churches and out side with a PA. A Gold with a Beta 57 or Senn. E906 and you are dripping tone. All I can say is try it. Rock, modern worship (it excels!), country (Paisley demands them), blues (cf. Mayer) and the speaker sounds like it was made for each style to begin with. I personally think it's a step beyond the legendary Blue. Never harsh. Always smooth, clear, warm, fat with amp gain and/or drive pedals. Excels with delays and reverbs too. In the end, I know they are expensive, but I'd rather wait and save for them than settle. Once you've used them, it's hard to go to something else.

sonic upgrade

I replaced the stock Jensen in my 1965 reissue Princeton Reverb with this speaker and the difference was significant - open, detailed mids and highs, while providing solid tight bass. This is before a complete break in. Well worth the money.
