Back in Black, Good to Be Back!

Plug in, and you’ll quickly understand the Fulltone Full-drive 3 pedal’s legendary status. Driven by a JFET input and JFET op-amp to deliver an exceptionally tubelike response, the Full-drive 3 serves up juicy crunch with all the trimmings. Flip the Full-drive 3’s Order switch to place the Boost either before or after the Overdrive section, but prepare to spend several hours exploring limitless tone-shaping options. Three different voicings let you choose between classic smooth, symmetrical clipping, contemporary Class A–style even harmonic overtones, and a searing Comp-cut setting that unleashes pure op-amp aggression — no diode clipping required. You need awesome overdrive, and Sweetwater’s got your pedal — the Fulltone Full-drive 3!

Three voicings give you control over your sonic universe

With its JFET op-amp and JFET input, Fulltone’s Full-drive 3 offers a distinctive tonal twist on the classic 4558-based Full-drive 2. Three unique voicing options allow you to tackle any sonic situation, including the original ’90s FD2 voicing and a second Wide Asymmetrical voicing that delivers a sleek, contemporary overdrive sound that’s delightfully transparent and open sounding. Finally, you also get a Comp-cut mode that delivers pure op-amp overdrive, completely free of clipping diode distortion. This amazing versatility makes the Full-drive 3 an extraordinarily valuable component of any guitar rig.

JFET Clean Boost — your secret weapon for stage and studio domination

Fulltone gave the Full-drive 3 an independent, discrete JFET Clean Boost with its own volume control. Why put a clean boost on an overdrive pedal? Well, at Sweetwater, we think this is a brilliant move. Long a cherished secret weapon of tone-savvy pro guitarists, clean boost lets you always be at the right volume, and it also lets you hit the front end of your tube amp just so. Put that in the same pedal with a killer overdrive circuit, and you have the versatility for stage and studio domination.

Germanium-diode “Limiting” function eliminates nasty spikes

You’ll notice a little black knob on the Full-drive 3 — it’s labeled “Dynamics.” As you spin it clockwise, you’re dialing in a germanium-diode “Limiting” circuit that dials out the irritating, grating spikes many clean boosts produce when you dig into your strings. Believe us, the results sound completely gorgeous. It’s all in keeping with the care and design savvy that goes into every Fulltone pedal. If you’re in the market for a guitar overdrive pedal, we think the Fulltone Full-drive 3 should be at the top of your list.

Fulltone Full-drive 3 Guitar Overdrive Pedal Features:

  • Driven by a JFET op-amp and JFET input for incredibly dynamic tubelike saturation
  • Order switch gives you tons of tone-shaping control
  • Choice of ’90s FD2, Wide Asymmetrical, or Comp-cut voicings
  • JFET Clean Boost gives you added versatility
  • Housing is roughly 20% smaller than the original pedal

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Amazing pedal! Doesn’t leave my board.

I love this pedal! Definitely staying permanently on my board.

It will cover your needs.

I've used this pedal now for a couple of months and it is fantastic. If you need a fat blues tone with a slight overdrive...this is the pedal for you. If you need a heavy 70s rock overdrive...this covers it. This pedal will make your guitar sing.
This pedal is a must for the blues and rock guitar players.
Music background: Blues, Rock and Church praise band. Playing since 1982.

Fulltone Fulldrive 3 Overdrive / Boost Pedal

I play a Fender Jazzmaster ultra through a Blues Deluxe and I lean into clean, overdriven tones. This provides so much versatility and consistency of sound - it is the only overdrive I need.

You need one too.

Perfect overdrive pedal

This pedal took a little getting used to, but it has become completely indispensable to my live setup. I use the overdrive- usually but not always on the wide asymmetrical setting- to give a slight gain and treble boost to my already overdriven tone on my amp. This makes it cut through the mix very well while still being subtle. It also makes controlled feedback come out a little more. I use the boost for solos. The simple compressor in the boost seems to be the thing I've been missing in other clean boosts, and it's perfect for me. I tried the germanium OCD and it doesn't hold a candle to this pedal, for me.

Amazing All In One Overdrive Pedal!

Have been using this pedal for a few months now and it is everything I need in an overdrive pedal. I use it with a stratocaster and a VOX AC15 and it really beefs it up. I use the CC setting and it is the exact sound I want, sounds similar to Kings of Leon guitar tones.
