Audiophile Dual-channel Instrument Preamp and Blender

Get studio-quality sound at your next gig with the Grace Design FELiX 2, an updated version of the renowned instrument preamp and signal blender preferred by discerning acoustic musicians. Newly equipped with stereo operation, the FELiX 2 includes a stereo amp output and a dual mono or true stereo FX loop for adding depth and dimension to your performance. Plug in two instruments, or one instrument and one microphone, and dial in immaculate sound with separate EQ sections. Here at Sweetwater, we've found that the powerful EQ controls on the FELiX 2 really allow you to sculpt the sound of any instrument to perfection. Other useful features include a dedicated tuner out, a boost function, and a stereo headphone output. If you want an instrument preamp with Grace Design's stunning audio performance and legendary reliability, do yourself a huge favor and check out the FELiX 2.

Create your ideal sound with this powerful EQ section

The versatile FELiX 2 preamp pedal lets you create your ideal signature sound via a powerful equalizer. Each channel's equalizer delivers a natural and musical tone at all frequencies. You get fixed low control, a high control with two transition settings at 1kHz and 2kHz, a parametric midrange that covers everything from 65Hz to 6kHz, and a highpass/notch filter that cuts 12dB per octave from 20Hz to 1kHz, with a tight Q setting for surgical tone sculpting. The layout is simple and intuitive to use. The blend control lets you mix both channels together to create the perfect mix. It doesn't matter if you play guitar, bass, mandolin, fiddle, banjo, vocals, or anything else, the Grace Design FELiX 2 will let you dial in the perfect sound.

Variable input impedance and phase control for optimized tone

The instrument DI inputs of the Grace Design FELiX 2 are designed to accommodate a wide variety of high-impedance input sources, making it an excellent choice as a DI box that will flawlessly preserve the sound of the instrument. Imagine the same resolution and detail as Grace preamplifiers available for direct-inject recording situations. Choose from six impedances to precisely match your instrument's pickup for the best sound possible. Furthermore, variable phase control is now available on channel 2, allowing you to adjust the phase coherence of the DI and mic input for ultimate clarity and punch.

Rugged Grace Design construction

To top it off, the Grace Design FELiX 2 is completely rugged and roadworthy, so discerning live performers can use the FELiX 2 to achieve studio-quality sound for their live setups. The anodized aluminum and steel body will hold up to the rigors of the road. The FELiX 2 features new protective side rails and lower-profile knobs for improved ergonomic performance. Equally at home amplifying a vintage condenser mic or an acoustic guitar, the Grace Design FELiX 2 delivers onstage results previously available only to big-budget studios and Grammy-winning engineers.

Hi Fi Sound and Simplified Setup

For me, the best part of the FELix 2 is that it simplified my setup and replaced several other pedals. My guitar has a Sunrise magnetic pickup and a K&K pure mini wired to a stereo jack. I was previously using buffer box, Radial Blender, Tuner, EQ pedal and passive DI to get the same functionality of the FELiX 2. With the FELiX 2, I can just bring the guitar and Grace to the gig. It also works great with the effects loop, but make sure the pedals you use don't dull up the sound. The sound is clean with sparkling highs. Lots of choices to shape your sound.

The only drawback I have found is if you have a system like a K&K Trinity you will still need your K&K Pro pre amp prior to going into FELiX because the K&K uses a 9 volt microphone and the FELiX will only output 12 volts.

All and all, I am super happy with the FELiX 2 and if you desire a natural acoustic sound, I don't think you can find anything better.

Pro Gear

This is a GREAT dual parametric preamp for acoustic instruments in a foot pedal form. I've used rack mount units in the past and this one is as clean and feature filled as anything I've seen!
I have been running a 1939 D28 on one side and a Martin custom shop 12 fret on the other side. (and the occasional 12 string) It is clean and does the job!

versatile, well made.

I use effects with my acoustic guitar, and I want an accurate amplified sound; like the guitar only louder. My guitar is outfitted with a Sunrise soundhole pup and piezo bridge pup wired for stereo out. My effects are all stereo. The Grace Design Felix 2 meets my needs in a stellar way. With it I have excellent string separation and note articulation, even with the effects. I can tweek the equalization to get a nice, full, clean sound. For me it is well worth the cost. As a bonus I spoke with Evan Grace both before and after purchasing the Felix 2. He was informative, helpful, and accessible to me. Previous to the Felix 2 I owned and used a Pendulum SPS-1 for 15 years but because of my clumsiness ended up breaking the module to the main unit. I couldn't get it repaired at the time as Greg's design was proprietary and he had gone out of business. I tried several other acoustic preamps and sent them all back as they didn't measure up to the Pendulum. I'm keeping the Felix 2.

Perfect for Upright Bass

The FELiX 2 does an amazing job at replicating the natural tone of my upright with extra warmth. I use this between my upright and a GK1001RB when playing gigs that require extra volume. My DPA microphone and Realist Lifeline pickup are blended into the Grace Design FELiX 2 preamp while operating in mix mode. Read the instruction manual and take this pre for a test drive before a gig so you can dial in your preferred settings. Both gains run very hot. No need to crank them to 11 or even 5. Follow the instructions for engaging the 48V phantom power to avoid speaker damage. My investment is protected by a power conditioner that also acts as the on off switch. The FELiX 2 does not have an on off switch.
If you play a gig with good monitoring and front of house then you can leave your amp and speakers at home and run your signal from the XLR outputs. Same goes for recording.
Thank you James Masterson for your excellent customer service. Glad to see that Sweetwater now carries orchestra instruments and looking forward to seeing upright bass instruments and accessories grow.
