Jazz Light Electric Guitar Strings

D'Adarrio's XL Nickel Wound electric guitar strings, their most popular string, gives your guitar a bright and detailed sound with spot-on intonation. Sweetwater knows that choosing the perfect string is vital to a musician's sound. The hexagonal high carbon steel core is wrapped with nickel-plated steel for a long-lasting string that's ready to tackle any style of music.

D'Addario - Making strings for over 300 years

Behind every set of D'Addario strings are over three centuries of fine craftsmanship. The D'Addario family tradition began in the tiny town of Salle, Italy in 1680 where they made assorted instrument strings for over two hundred years before relocating to New York in 1905. As the modern string making industry began to develop, the D'Addario family emerged as innovators by designing the winding machine most string makers still use today. And while their techniques have modernized, the pride that goes into each set of strings dates back to the D'Addario family's earliest roots.

After a handful of years playing exclusively with these strings, no others will do

First off, I play mostly extreme metal. The two tunings I use the most are C standard and Drop B. For most thinner gauged strings, hanging out in these tunings can turn your strings into rubber bands, and good luck getting your G string to stay in tune. These strings are the perfect gauge for me, they don't sound sloppy at all despite playing in such low tunings, and they feel great on my fingertips. The wound G is something I've grown accustomed to, and now I don't use any strings without one. Heck, I don't use any strings besides these. They can be ever so slightly tough to play with if you're gonna be playing in standard, but it's not impossible or painful to play them in standard, they're just... thicker, you know?bending may take a little getting used to if you're accustomed to lighter gauge strings, but as I said, if you've already been playing a while, it's not too hard to get used to them.
As far as sound goes, they are very bright, which I like, and they seem to improve sustain compared to other strings. Quality is out of this world, I've never gotten a dud from D'Addario, probably never will.
Trust me, if you're into lower tunings, or want some heavier strings, or actually play jazz guitar, don't hesitate to give these a shot. I tried them in about 2015, been using them exclusively ever since.

Great for Down Tuning

I've used these sets of D'addario light jazz strings for lower tunings for years. They sound great in B standard, they're light and fast to play on. Good bright tone, lots of sustain even with the strings being down tuned. And the strings last a long time especially if you take care of 'em and wipe 'em down after you're done playing. EJ21's are a winner, I'll keep buying these strings.

Best strings ever!

I'll never use any other brand other than D'addario ever again. Anytime I've tried other brands I get breakage, short life, unstable tuning, and usually, a higher price.

I have every one of my guitars setup with the 12-52 jazz light set. Tuned to drop C# these feel really comfortable. Good tension but can still get some decent bends if needed. I usually buy as many packs at once as I can afford, and even talked my guitar player into using the same kind just to make things easier. Our guitar rack has about 30 packs!

Consistent

These have been my go-to strings for years

My favorite strings

After testing a pack of Ernie Ball and Dunlops, between them and these, these feel the best to me. Not overly bright, and not muddy or dead sounding. I especially love the wound G. I personally tend go for heavier strings as I like to detune to open tunings like open D or even down to open B. However, they still feel pretty good in standard tuning.
Music background: About 2-3 year guitarist primarily, however I like to experiment.
