A Classic Dreadnought Comes Back to the USA

Epiphone is positively ecstatic to once again offer a USA-made edition of their legendary Frontier to the playing public. This classic Dove-style dreadnought acoustic guitar features a solid Sitka spruce top with solid figured maple back and sides for powerful, punchy treble and midrange, adding sparkling tone to your performances. A smooth, stunning mahogany neck with Indian rosewood fingerboard offers impeccable response and playability, and a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint with hot hide glue ensures not only enhanced resonance but also durability. And when you plug in the Frontier, you will be blown away by the pristine, natural acoustic tone from the onboard LR Baggs VTC pickup. From stem to stern, the Epiphone USA Frontier acoustic-electric guitar is designed for incredible tone, playability, and presentation!

Fine appointments and stunning detail

The Epiphone Frontier has all the attention to detail and design elements that their USA-made acoustics are known for. To begin, traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing provides not only enhanced resonance but also tonal support that is subtle but present with every note and every strum. A genuine Indian rosewood fingerboard, a belly-up bridge, and a real bone and nut saddle also add resonance, not to mention stage-ready presentation. An imitation tortoiseshell pickguard with engraved lariat and cactus graphics is a mesmerizing nod to the original Frontier. Keeping you in tune is a set of stunning gold-plated Gotoh Keystone tuners. Finally, mother-of-pearl slotted rectangle inlays adorn the rosewood fingerboard for stunning vintage appeal.

Impeccable amplified acoustic tone

LR Baggs's popular VTC acoustic pickup system is a favorite among acoustic guitarists at Sweetwater. This system features a low-profile under-saddle transducer that enhances the coupling between the pickup and the guitar for a robust, lively, and natural acoustic sound with excellent dynamics and delicate high end. Combined with an onboard preamplifier with an unobtrusive and removable volume control that is mounted just inside the soundhole, the VTC gives the Epiphone Frontier acoustic-electric guitar the amplification you need — with zero compromises for tone or convenience.

Why Buy Your Guitar from Sweetwater?

See how Sweetwater goes to great lengths to give you the very best online guitar buying experience. From our online Guitar Gallery that allows you to see and select the exact instrument you want to our 55-point Inspection process and our in-house guitar techs, we take the guesswork out of buying your next guitar online.

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

It's back after 50 years in the USA

The originals were made at the Gibson Factory in Kalamazoo Michigan between 1957-70. Epiphone USA has returned after 50 years and is back building Epiphone USA and the question is: Are these Epiphone USA worth the money? Absolutely,I have played this new USA and the new USA Casino and the quality, performance and sound are spectacular. I can't afford the USA but I did buy the Masterbilt Frontier and EpiLite Case here at Sweetwater courtesy of Jeremiah Smith. They look identical in the front but looking at them up close, you can tell them apart. If I were able to also buy the USA, I would indeed.

Epiphone Frontier USA - Great Guitar!

I have been playing this fine USA made Epiphone Frontier guitar (sunburst finish) for a few days now. I know that all guitar players have their own unique tastes in what they consider great tone in a guitar. With that said, the Epiphone Frontier is everything I expected this guitar to provide with clear, crisp, tone. The flame maple back and sides has a lot to do with that. The bass, midrange, and highs really jump out at you with some inspired playing. No muddy tones here. The guitar is is a joy to play and will be great for blues, country, folk, and rock & roll. Aesthetically, this guitar is beautiful and the pick guard has a very nice lariat and cactus motif that is a nice touch. This guitar will be one of my "go to" guitars for a long time I suspect.
Music background: Long time guitar picker (50 years)
