Smaller-sized Classic Jumbo Delivers Big Volume and Portability

The J-200 EC Studio Parlor from Epiphone puts that classic Jumbo tone in your hands at a slightly smaller size — ideal for younger players or those simply wanting a smaller-sized guitar for travel. Despite its smaller size, the J-200 EC Studio Parlor sacrifices nothing on tone, feel, and performance. It features a solid spruce top with an ovangkol body that delivers big, full, rich sound. The hard maple neck with walnut center stringer and the pau ferro fingerboard offer incredible response and feel for hours of comfortable strumming or fingerpicking. And when you are ready to plug in, the onboard Fishman Presys II preamp and Sonicore pickup deliver stellar amplified acoustic tone.

Beauty, tone, and playability

The Epiphone J-200 EC Studio Parlor's neck is cut to a comfortable, rounded SlimTaper "C" profile that guitarists here at Sweetwater love for its response and feel. The pau ferro fingerboard is smooth, resilient, balanced, and ideal for aggressive open strumming or subtle fingerpicking. In addition, the fingerboard is bound for an extremely smooth and comfortable feel that enhances the J-200 EC Studio Parlor's playability.

A tradition lives on

The Gibson Jumbo is one of the most iconic acoustic guitars in American music history. It first appeared in 1937 and has won over countless players with its bold volume. Before the advent of the amplifier, big volume was a must. The Epiphone J-200 EC Studio Parlor continues the legacy of this seminal acoustic by offering all the original Jumbo's big tone and bold projection in a smaller body, so players of various ages, abilities, and styles can enjoy all it has to offer — at a great price!

Epiphone J-200 EC Studio Parlor Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Smaller-sized acoustic-electric gives you the tone, volume, and playability of an American classic
  • Solid spruce top with an ovangkol body delivers big, full, rich sound
  • Hard maple neck with walnut center stringer and pau ferro fingerboard offer incredible response and feel
  • Fishman Presys II preamp and Sonicore pickup deliver stellar amplified acoustic tone
  • Compensated bone saddle and bone nut support tone and resonance
  • Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners keep you in tune and provide a classic look

meets most expectations

Plays decent out of the box. Looks good too. Needs a little tlc on the action. Electronics are nice and built in tuner is handy. They stopped putting the nice truss rod cover with a plain black one. Rather disappointing, as it was a nice appointment that, apparently, Epiphone has decided to cheap-out on.
Music background: Active lifetime player/performer.

Almost perfect electric-like acoustic

I looked extensively for an acoustic-electric guitar to use for practice and songwriting that is small enough to avoid banging into things while I reposition myself between notebooks and keyboard, etc., with the same nut width and fretboard radius as my electrics to maintain consistency of feel, and with a decent sound.

The physical dimensions of this unusually sized "jumbo junior" are hard to find online; here's what I measure: Overall length 39 3/4"; body length 18 1/2"; body depth 3 3/4"; lower bout width: 14 3/4" in front, and 14 7/8" in back; spacing between outside of E strings 1 7/16"; weight 4 lbs 15 oz.

When hanging on a neck strap, the small body made for a pronounced neck dive and the strap button mounted on the heel caused a forward rotation of the guitar until I moved the button to the side of the neck and taped 9 oz of lead fishing weights inside the bottom bout. Given my preferences for the size, perhaps this was almost inevitable. I got what I needed and am glad I found this—almost the only guitar with a 24 3/4" scale length that met my desirables for size and neck characteristics.

Epiphone Studio parlor

I like it a lot. It's a really good deal for the price, it sounds really good. It's fun to play. The small parlor size makes it really comfortable. It seems like quality craftsmanship. Overall I think it was a good buy.
