Slinky Cobalt Are Amazing!

I'm loving these on my Fender P 5 string.
I've tried a few other brands/styles of strings on this bass and Cobalt have absolutely won the competition.
These are my favorite and I keep at least one backup set on hand at all times.

The tone just sounds right to me; lively and responsive, but not too bright. Dark and sonorous deep tones, but still clear and not murky. It's a P bass with a low B string, so of course I'm getting sonorous tones, but these Ernie Ball strings hit just right. Instead of the P bass "thud" that can be less focused, I'm getting sounds that are more like slamming a massive rock into an enormous metal wall: tight and ringing!

The clean tones are crystal clear and beautiful coming from a variety of amps. At home I'm bouncing between Orange and Darkglass (I'll admit the Darkglass is much more the sound I prefer) and through unprocessed studio headphones you hear every nuance while playing.
Speaking of nuances, the Cobalt strings are incredibly responsive. You can coax what feels like endless subtle variations out of your sound. Using fingertips and a few different picks and they're giving me unique tones taylored to what I want to hear (best overall pick sound is coming from 3mm Gravity pick). They also respond well to tapping although a zingier string might be best there.

Now plug into some distortion and they're ripping it up! I've used a few engines and like the Alpha Omega best with these strings and my bass. You can dial in more than enough sizzle if needed.
I also like these a lot through Darkglass X engine because it retains the low bass tone; this is my starting point most times and then I branch out to the Alpha Omega when I want to get wicked.
The theme here getting back the Ernie Ball Cobalt is that these strings (.130 tuned to B) deliver the goods in every application!

Life is long with these; sound stays fresh for weeks. I change strings more frequently than most folk, but I can rock these a bit longer than other strings. The price won't break the bank either and that's nice.
Intonation is perfect and they stay in tune phenomenally long. I'm checking throughout the day and these rarely need a tweak at the tuning machines.

Sustain is long, too, with these. The sound will just keep ringing, and with an overdrive it feels like you've got a sustain pedal in the mix and it's never gonna fade.

Overall, obviously, I'm just all about playing on EB's Cobalt. Recommended 100%

Great sound

These strings gave new life to my bass. They have a nice sustain to them. And they're not hard on the fingers.

Great strings

Good mid fat, low end smooth, not to tinny. Good gigging set.

Punchy and bright

Great tone. These last longer than the standard strings. I used these on my Sting Ray and they fit the bass perfect. I like to play with my nails and they certainly have that bright scratchy sound I'm looking for. Low end sounds great too. I tune the 5th string down to A and it keeps its tonal quality. I love playing John Myung bass lines and I think these are the pair he sponsors.
