Classic Dyna Comp Tone with Modern Sonic Versatility

Based on one of the most popular guitar compressor pedals ever made, the MXR M228 Dyna Comp Deluxe delivers the classic Dyna Comp sound while offering more sound-shaping potential than ever. Utilizing the classic CA3080 "metal can" circuit, the Dyna Comp Deluxe features impressively quiet operation, greater transparency, and exceptional dynamic range. Use the Attack switch to select from slow or fast attack times, then use the Tone control to fine-tune your sound. And with a Clean control to blend in your dry sound with the compressed signal, Sweetwater can confirm that the MXR M228 Dyna Comp Deluxe compressor pedal is the most versatile Dyna Comp ever made.

MXR M228 Dyna Comp Deluxe Compressor Pedal Features:

  • Compressor pedal for electric guitar based on vintage-correct CA3080 "metal can" circuit
  • Attack switch toggles between fast and slow attack times
  • Clean control blends in your dry signal to preserve attack and punch while adding sustain
  • Sensitivity knob controls length of sustain; Output determines output level
  • Ranges from squishy '70s-style compression to transparent, "light touch" dynamic control

Love this pedal

For some reason this pedal seems overlooked (only 3 reviews on Sweetwater?!?), so I thought I would chime in.

This is the classic Dyna Comp circuit but with added Mix, Tone and Attack controls. In other words, it gives you all you need to really shape your compressed sound. The mix allows you to adjust the amount of unprocessed signal coming through, so you can dial in a little squish or a lot. You can get very mild, transparent settings all the way up to super hot Nashville-style chicken pickin' tones.

With all settings at noon, it adds a wonderful thickness, sustain and chime/sparkle to single coils. Adjust to liking from there. It's really a pixie dust kind of pedal for cleans, just makes everything sound a little better. First time I plugged it in I finally heard all the great guitar tones from my favorite records coming through my own amplifier. It's "always on" with my Tele and Strat into a clean Fender amp. Beautiful.

MXR Dyna Comp Deluxe

So far I'm not having luck getting this to do what I bought it for and probably at some point will purchase another compressor for that purpose. This thing sounds great though,I find myself leaving it on all the time, dont know how i lived without it.I would give it five stars but MXR pedals aren't made as well as they used to be,could use some metal jacks.Sounds great for almost everything you would want a compressor for just cant seem to get it dailed in for Chicken picking like I'd like.

it’s fine but…

Nice set of adjustable parameters. But why put the power jack right next to the input jack when there is plenty of room to put the power jack on the back wall of the enclosure just like almost every other pedal in existence? It's actually quite annoying.
