Modern High-gain Tones

Many distortion pedals make your down-tuned riffs sound flabby. And when you crank up the gain, your tone becomes thick and sludgy. That's not the case with the Wampler Dracarys. It delivers modern high-gain tones with depth, aggression, and clarity. There's nothing mushy or wooly about the Dracarys. Even when you play at breakneck speed, the Dracarys gives you the articulation you need. Enjoy powerful sound shaping with the onboard 3-band EQ, while a gain switch arms you with two versatile types of distortion. If you're a fan of Wampler's Triple Wreck distortion pedal but wish it had a more modern voice, you'll love the contemporary high-gain sound of the Dracarys.

Two versatile types of distortion

One thing that really stood out when we ran the Dracarys through its paces here at Sweetwater was its versatility. Wampler not only supplied the Dracarys with a Triple Wreck-style 3-band EQ to sculpt your tone but also included a gain switch that provides two different types of distortion. Set the switch to the Open position, and enjoy an aggressive tone with minimal compression. Flip it to the Tight position, and experience a powerful sound with natural tube-like compression. We also found that the Tight position exhibits an excellent lower-gain tone.

Wampler is synonymous with amazing tone

Insert a Wampler guitar effects pedal in your signal chain, and you'll instantly be impressed by its amazing tone. Their handbuilt pedals are of top-notch quality and are recognized by guitarists everywhere. From the aggressive crunch of the Leviathan Fuzz to the lush reverb of the Faux Spring Reverb, it's easy to find the perfect ingredient to your tonal recipe. With Wampler's Signature Pedal Series, you can also achieve the tones of Wampler artists such as Brent Mason and Brad Paisley. If you're looking for that special effect from your guitar pedalboard, check out Wampler pedals.

Wampler Dracarys Distortion Features:

  • Distortion pedal with contemporary high-gain voice
  • Provides the depth, aggression, and clarity you need for modern styles of metal
  • 3-band EQ provides powerful sound shaping
  • Gain switch delivers 2 versatile types of distortion
  • Relay true bypass design with soft switch preserves your tone

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Pretty awesome pedal

I REALLY like this pedal, however, I do find that the normal physics of equalization don't necessarily apply to this pedal. You also have to know that I run a solid state 2X12 combo, BUT, I completely bypass the preamp and plug my entire effects chain into the effects return (the preamp is super bright and hard to dial down). This pedal can get fizzy, but I've found that if I run the bass at about 9-10 O'clock, the mid completely dialed out, and the treble at 12-2 O'Clock, I get a super chunky chug, AND it cuts through the mix pretty well. I still have my MT2 and TS-9 on the board, after this one, and still love them. This isn't a full replacement for anything in my chain...but, it definitely gives me that super modern metal tone. It also responds well to touch...meaning, along with my amp, it has some characteristics of the tube amp when you back off a little. It's probably not for everyone, and let's be honest, Ola (whom Brian Wampler designed this pedal to sound like) demos it on a super high end tube amp, along with whatever mic he's using, and it's mixed. That said, Wampler makes really nice pedals! This one is a keeper, for me.

Excellent Metal Distortion!

This is my first Wampler pedal. What really sold me was the demo by Ola Englund, and the name...huge Game of Thrones fan. It's pure heavy metal bliss, she'll most definitely chug! You can definitely achieve that Mesa Boogie sound. Love the soft switch, want to change all my pedals to that switch. I also use the Open/Tight switch a lot more than I thought I would. It would actually be great to have another footswitch button for that, but I'll rig something up.

Great High Gain Pedal For My Fender Twin Combo!!!!

I have been looking for a looong time to turn my Fender into a clean AND distorted beast, now I've arrived!!! I love my Peavey 5150 Combo, but it's clean channel lacks that fender chime....and I love my Fender Twin, but have always wished it had a high gain side. Now it does with the Dracarys pedal!!! The tone is great for metal and other distorted tones. I've found that the gain is quite tweakable to match a few styles of high distortion tones. I've tried many pedals and this is working the best for me.

This thing delivers!

This is a very versatile high gain pedal. I Love the 3 band eq and the tight toggle. You can run this pedal at 18v but I've never needed too,THIS PEDALS GOT GAIN GALORE! Very happy with this purchase.

Glad it’s mine

I have a Mesa combo and fender twin reverb. Wanted a distortion pedal that got my single coils sound from my Mesa crunch channel to my fender twin, this is it. Now I have a legit Mesa crunch channel on my twin reverb and it's awesome.
