The Rare Crescendo Pedal Is Back!

If you’ve ever tried to execute consistent volume swells that perfectly track your notes or chords, then you know it’s no picnic. You could use a volume pedal, of course. Or if you’re playing a Strat, you could wrap your pinky around the volume knob and hope for the best. Either way, it’s a lot of work to develop a technique and produce a result that’s inconsistent at best and distracts you from your playing at worst. Enter the auto-swell pedal. This is one of those cool effects that made a brief appearance in the ’70s and then disappeared before guitarists had a chance to discover its myriad charms. Today, rare vintage pedals occasionally pop up on the used market, and they are pricey — if you can find one in working order. Now, the swell effect is probably not one you’ll use constantly, but when you need it, it’s a lifesaver. Wouldn’t it be great if somebody made this classic effect available in a modern pedal that works flawlessly, sounds awesome, and is ridiculously affordable? Well, you’re in luck: Sweetwater is delighted to present the TC Electronic Crescendo Auto Swell pedal.

Adds dynamic interest to your music

Creating changes in dynamics adds interest to your music. For guitarists, there are many ways to achieve this, from altering your pick attack to manipulating data in your DAW. But none are as accessible as the Crescendo’s auto-swell effect. Simply plug in, and the Crescendo does the rest. Two knobs — Sensitivity and Attack — give you quick and total control over the effect’s behavior. Crescendo Auto Swell brings this iconic effect back to life in a robust, attractive pedal with reliable, high-quality components, state-of-the-art performance, and a generous warranty. All at a price that won’t even put a dent in your wallet.

Create hauntingly beautiful guitar lines

Crescendo Auto Swell works much the same as a noise gate, but in reverse. Rather than clamping down on the tail of a signal, Crescendo mutes the initial attack before swelling up to full volume. Essentially, it eliminates your pick attack and blooms into a fully blossomed note. Based on your Sensitivity and Attack settings, the effect is fully responsive to your playing and is ideal for churning out hauntingly beautiful guitar lines onstage with no effort on your part — other than choosing the right notes! Crescendo Auto Swell also works great on keyboards and other instruments as well. You’ll never run out of creative uses for this value-packed little pedal.

Tour-tough for the long haul

Given the Crescendo’s extremely alluring price point, you might assume corners were cut somewhere — but this is TC Electronic we’re talking about. Accordingly, Crescendo Auto Swell is built tour-tough for the long haul with a rugged all-metal chassis. It’s fitted with dedicated input and output jacks and features True Bypass circuitry, so it’s both roadworthy and pedalboard friendly. You can power it with a 9V battery or use TC’s convenient Powerplug 9V adapter.

TC Electronic Crescendo Auto Swell Pedal Features:

  • Versatile, great-sounding, and affordable
  • Classic auto-swell effect
  • Sensitivity and Attack controls
  • True Bypass circuitry
  • Robust all-metal chassis
  • Powered via 9V battery or TC Powerplug 9V adapter
  • Designed and engineered in Denmark

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Crescendo’s and Crescendon’ts

I got this pedal as a birthday gift. It's great with a delay. I'd recommend putting it first in your chain for the best results. The effect is less noticeable after a drive pedal or when using a guitar with hotter pickups. The more you play around with it, you'll discover weirder sounds. You can get it to sound different just by how you're picking the notes. Cool pedal.

Great Pedal-Great Fun

I love to sit in my music room and play my guitars and try new things. My favorite activity is to use different effects units together, I various setups. The TC Crescendo is so much fun to use with other pedals like delay, chorus, flanger about anything you can think of. This is a great pedal and will only add to your sound. Grab one soon, after all TC Electronic makes great pedals and you'll never go wrong with one of their pedals. Get one and you'll Love it….!
Music background: Have played off and on since age 13. Many bands, duets, single, etc. Now occasionally sit in and jam but mostly home player.

EXCELLENT!

Works exactly like my Boss Slow Gear. Thinking about selling my Boss now. These pedals are very particular and you'll need to figure out how to work with them.

Quick Attack!

This pedal works OK for me. It is quiet and performs as demonstrated in the videos I watched. However, I really wish the attack time could be longer for a slower, more gradual swell. I intend to keep the pedal though. It is a good value and a nice addition to my set-up.
