Lightweight Cabs for Any Gig!

Bass provides the foundation that a song is built on, but the power needed to provide that foundation often comes with substantial weight. The Gallien-Krueger CX 115 bass cabinets are compact and leightweight, making them incredibly easy to lug to the gig. The CX 115 is a great partner for the MB series of heads, giving you plenty of power for the gig without breaking your back - or your bank! Gallien-Krueger loaded the CX 115 bass cabinet with proprietary ceramic drivers and high-frequency horns to create a wide-ranging and balanced sound that will fill the room. When you need to move some air, Sweetwater knows the Gallien-Krueger CX 115 bass cabinet is up to the task!

Definition, projection, and presence

GK has built the CX 115 bass cab for maximum efficiency, with a single 15" cast-frame ceramic woofer loaded in a compact feather-weight enclosure you'll stand a good chance of fitting into your car.

Compact and amazingly lightweight

The CX 115 is one of the smallest, lightest 1 x 15" cabs ever made. If you need to move air onstage, 15" speakers are a proven way to do it with powerful bottom end and articulation. By minimizing the size and reducing the weight of the classic 1 x 15" cab, Gallien-Krueger has done bassists a huge favor. With the CX 115, you can play stadiums without a crew of roadies.

Built GK Tough

Well built? Definitely. CX cabinets are typical GK - just smaller and lighter. And the CX 115's cast-frame speaker is happy pumping out tight bass all night long.

Gallien-Krueger CX 115 Bass Cabinet Features:
  • Great-sounding, lightweight bass cabinet
  • Awesome definition, projection, and presence
  • Compact and amazingly lightweight
  • 300 watts
  • 8-ohm impedance
  • Single 15" ceramic cast-frame speaker
No matter what the gig, the Gallien-Krueger CX 115 bass cab has you covered!

Update to a Prior Review

I bought one of these about a year ago. In that time, I've since purchased another, practiced with them in a loud band setting dozens of times, and gigged with them. I originally gave this cabinet 4 stars, but I feel like I sold them short, so I'm giving an updated review.

As I mentioned, I now own two of these cabs. The price has gone up, but to my surprise, they've actually gone up in quality, too. Both the tolex and handles on my newer one are sturdier. I'm not sure if there were changes to anything else, I haven't (and probably won't) open up the cabs to see what goes on inside.

In my original review, I knocked the tweeter. As it turns out, this was a mistake on my part. What I've learned is that the grounding in my house isn't great and what I was hearing was actually an issue from that, simply made far more audible with the tweeter on. At the practice space and at gigs, the issue has never presented itself. The tweeter seems to be really good. I have the top cab with the tweeter on high and the bottom one with the tweeter on low. Obviously, this results in a much nicer treble response than having them off. Clarity, with punchy lows.

I play rock music, both with a pick and finger style, the cabs sound really good with both. Powered by a Peavey MiniMax 600 with a Sansamp VT Bass in front of it.

It's still a really light cab with a powerful 15" speaker. I'm surprised it, "only," has a 300 watt power rating. At this point, and for the price, I struggle to find fault with the cab. Very, very happy with my purchases. I think they'll last a long time.

GK Believer

Did a lot of research before pulling the trigger on this cab. Been using GK heads for years with either 1 or 2 single 15 cabs. My old 400rb after years of road work finally became unreliable so I bought the mb200 and paired it with the cx115 cab. I have 2 Canadian built single 15 cabs but they're made from cement I believe. Lol..This new rig is phat!!! Light weight and clean, true tone! I play mostly P basses. By the way, Sweetwater's picture of this cab shows an on-off switch for the tweet but the new stock has a 3-way so you can shut it off which I appreciate. I highly recommend this cab and Sweetwater.

Sounds Great & Easy to Carry

My practice space at home is up a very narrow, steep set of stairs so I need smaller, easier to manage cabinet. I already own a CX210 (that I leave at another rehearsal space) which I have grown to really like having compared it to other cabinets that have come & gone so I thought I would give the CX115 a try. I am really happy with my choice. It sounds great with my tonehammer 500 & either my PBass or My Japanese Jaguar. I can really get that thumpy, thick sound without the mud that I like but really I can get the CX115 to reproduce about any sound. I play with a couple of bands and either cab is more than adequate for most of the venues that we play. As always Sweetwater goes out of their way to provide excellent customer service (Thank you Richard Whittington) which makes it an easy choice when looking for gear.
